Sticker shock at the gas pump
« on: October 10, 2004, 12:25:55 AM »
Cost me just under $40.00 to fill 7/8 of a tank today.  Thinking it's time to tarp the Jeep and untarp the bike until it gets too cold to ride.

Dating myself, but I can remember when gas was $.50 /gallon.

Ok, I'm finished venting for a while

I PUMPED gas at 63.9 and people griped because I left a bug smear on the windshield. Oh yeah, it was ALWAYS a riot when they honked the horn while I checked the oil and burned my hand on the radiator cap. That never got old.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Luckily I don't need a vehicle here at college.

But when I was home over the summer, I'd fill up weekly in my drive to work.

Right now at home its 2+ a gallon and we're not even IN Chicago yet.

Here at Charleston, IL (population, 26,000 surrounded by less than 1k pop. towns for a good 20 mi) gas is $1.95

Thank god my S-10 gets 25 mpg avg.

Rumor has it that the prices have  nowhere else to go but UP.

I'd go without Coffee and Rent before I parked up my Jeep. Lucky for us the NZ Dollar is very strong to the US Dollar helping absorbe the recent oil price hikes.

Around Labor Day the local news was saying that gas would go up over the holiday, then drop, then go back up in November.

I don't know who the geniuses are that keep raising prices on things while salaries are staying the same or getting worse, but I want some of what they're on.

Once production in the Gulf of Mexico spools up we should see a drop as the hurricane season hasn't exactly been helpful to supply.

I used to own a VW Bug in the early 60's. It had a 10 gallon tank, I was never able to put more than $3 in it to fill it up.

My parents bought a '57 Chevy wagon when they first came out, my dad used to ***** about paying more than $.20 a gallon.

It's $1.20 NZD a litre which works out to be about.. $3.05 USD a Gallon. Most of the cost in gas here is tax, but I guess that's the same for most countries.

Shocked in a good way or bad? :)

I remember buying gas for my car at 19 cents a gallon. After Iraq becomes our 51st state we may see prices approach that again.
Here we put salt on Margaritas, not sidewalks.
