Wind
« on: January 21, 2007, 07:04:48 PM »
i think it would be really great to see wind in the game. currently the setup allows for user specified weather that lasts until it is changed, and in the MAs, the wind isn't used. now, if the wind is setup at 15 knts in one direction, it gives the upwind country an advantage, which is why wind isn't used.

so i was wondering if it would be possible to code a weather generator, where the server would randomly select wind speeds and directions, and would change them over time. the generator would vary the wind speeds at different alts, and gradually change magnitude, altitude and such.

this would of course be a hassle to code, but i would LOVE to see a more advanced weather system.

Wind is programmable in 2k layers from 0 to 36k.
Easy in-game again.

There was some sort of a weather system for a week once.

Then the MA ate it big when somebody won the war.

Then it went away.

i know, but it then stays like that until you have to sift through and change it...

i was suggesting a randomiser in the wind code that would provide a decent variation and realistic wind and clouds without poor HT skuzzy or pyro having to log on and change it manually.
