Hello, ever since i started to play this game some keys have never worked, such as the tilde key to expand the chat, the zoom keys ( left and right brackets), and numerous others. So today while a friend was educating me about tanks and GV's he walked me through stuff and i realized that i could not zoom in, and before i started in this tank i didn't really care. But i have tried to fix it and only my Zoom out key will work, not zoom in, so i completely uninstalled, clicked custom and wiped all all of settings so that i had to re download the plane cache and everything. So i went it and all my key mapping was now default and zoom out still only worked, then i programmed zoom in to a new key, back slash, which was open, and it worked, but then zoom out did not work, so i put everything back to default, zoom in and out back to original keys, the brackets, and when i hit zoom out it worked, and zoom in still didn't, then i hit back slash, which was the old key setting, and it worked and i could move in and out. Why is this and can anyone tell me how to get all of the other keys to work, they are all back to default and the keys that i know that don't works are check 6, the tilde key and alot others. PLEASE HELP ME

                                                  Thank You,
                                                                  Doc

I've got the same exact problem. The tilde key does not perform the default function and I never got the chat window expanded trying to map it to a different key. Ditto on the zoom keys. Mine work just like yours do. No explanation here was ever forthcoming. I just got used to it.

Same thing here, bro.  I DL'd AH on 2 different brand new pcs and the zoom in & out bkts., the chk6, & maximize the text window (`) keys don't work.  I remapped em over & over to no avail.  Finally I just changed em to new keys.  I made the zoom keys the up & down arrows, the chk6 the : key & max. the window the tab key.  I don't care what anyone says, this newest version of the game is whacked.  I've never had one problem running AH for 3 years, but a clean install of this newest version has given me nothing but problems on 2 different brand spankin new pcs.  Good luck to ya, right now I'm s.o.l.

This issue started on my laptop for no apparent reason.  Tilde key, and one of the zoom keys.  Re-installed game and still have the issue.  Using xp.  Any help is appreciated.

I 'HAD" the same problem. I use a Hauppauge Win-TV PVR-USB2 and when I plug that in (the USB line) the keymappings for AH get messed up and the zoom keys and ~ do not work. I got around it by remapping the zoom functions from [ and ] to ] and \ (one key to the right for each) and the ~ key to the Tab key. The really odd thing is it returns to the default keys if I just pull the usb cable from the Hauppauge unit.

Coach, have you done any software updates to anything else?  There are two things I have heard of in this line.

1)  Some laptops share keys and (like Max's) that do not send standard scan codes.
2)  Some background application from Microsoft is interferring with the keys being sent to the game.  Something to do with wireless communications.
3)  Rumor:  iTunes is doing it.  Not sure about this at all.

The only other thing in common is they are all laptops.  I'd love to get one into the lab, at work, so we could find out what is trapping the key strokes.

Skuzz

No software updates or anything new installed at all.  That is why it is so strange.  I'll mess around with the Itunes and see what happens.  I only have around 80 background processes......... that CAN'T be it  cool

Otherwise....... you have a lab rat laptop if you wish  Big Grin

Thanks

You mean, nothing you are aware of.  Microsoft has a nasty habit of updating software, without letting you know about it.

80 processes?  Geez Coach!  Maybe it has finally decided to revolt.  That does not mean it is charging itself. Smiley

Also make sure you dont have any axis set to 'field of view' or it never will work.
