AMD and Intel Multi-core CPU's using Windows XP
« on: February 20, 2007, 07:12:41 AM »
As of Aces High Version 2.14 Patch 6, the following no longer applies.
=================

The following applies to all versions of the Windows operating systems, after Windows 2000.

You only need to be here if you are having problems with your multi-core CPU computer system.  The main manifestation of the problem is a spinning flap on the clipboard.  However, there could be other effects as well.

The following is not needed if your system is running normally.

To work around the issues, do this.

1. Right-click on the Aces High II startup ICON.
2. Select "Properties" from the popup menu.
3. Select the "Compatibility" tab.
4. Check the check box to run the game in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode.

NOTE:  If you do not see the "Run" option when you press the "Start" button, then right-click on the "Start" button, select "Properties", then switch the view mode to "Classic".  This will allow you to see the "Run" menu option again.

Depending on what version of Windows XP you have, you may still need this patch.  (for Intel or AMD CPUs)  Vista and later versions of Windows operating systems should not need this patch. Check to see if the mandatory Windows XP Hotfix Patch: KB896256 (NOT automatically downloaded with Windows Update) is installed.  You do this by going to the "Add/Remove Programs" ICON in the Control Panel and review the list of installed software.

If the patch is not listed as being installed, then download KB896256 XP patch and install it.
