Author Topic: nv4_disp error - AH freezes within 5 minutes (Read 433 times)

New machine coming... but 2 weeks away. Been trying to tackle this problem for a week straight now to no avail with this 'bastard' machine I have, now.

I get an error message telling me that the nv4_disp thingy has gone kaput. There seem to be a crapload of people on the intarwebzorz with this issue and just as many 'solutions.'

Have tried clean driver installes several times. Have tweaked apature in BIOS from 128 to 256.

I can log into AH just fine and play for about 5 minutes whereby it freezes for about 5 minutes. After that time, I CTD and get the error message.

Pulling my hair out, here. IL2 works fine (what a chitty flight model...) so I cant understand why AH doesnt? (difference with Open GL, maybe?).

As a REALLY interesting twist... this only happens online? Offline AH seems to work just fine...?

My Gerry-rigged P4 3.4Ghz x 2 was hacked up by a local computer "repair" shop and I ended up with a friggen Sempron.

No idea if they even installed everything correctly... but never had this problem before they tore out my MoBo and CPU's and put in their $1.99 specials without so much as a phone call to me.

Help me Obi Wan Skuzzobi. Youre my only hope!

Try an earlier driver. If you can use an 8x.xx version driver you will be better off.

If you are stuck with those 1xx.xx drivers, then try disabling the optimization in the game's "Video Settings" and set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 512.

I had the same problem with my comp when i built it........AH seemed to be the only program affected...i had to manually change my memory timing after finding out that OCZ RAM and ASUS were like oil and water....so i changed that stuff and evrything got smoothe as can be:aok
