Fire in the Philippines Frame 3 Scores
« on: August 25, 2008, 09:00:24 PM »
The following are the final scores for Fire in the Philippines: Leyte 1944.

Frame 3 was the closest the Allies came to catching the Axis. Mainly because the Allies kept the losses to the lowest point in three frames also while safely landing more pilots than they had in the first two frames.

I think the biggest factor in this event was the Ships, not the planeset or anything else. I went by my standard ship scoring (200=CV, 100=CA, 50=DD). This makes the ships a high priority objective as they are the highest scored of all the objectives used in this event. I think this aspect alone made it the tough for the Allies, but certainly not un-winnable.

But in consideration, lower scoring ships, scores I have used in other FSO's may work better. Although lowering the scores in ships would not have affected the final outcome of this FSO, it would of made the outcomes of every frame closer. I'm not sure if that is what really needed though.

I also really wanted to use Ships for Sea Engagements, but I could not put together something that I really liked. I have never been fond of opening flight later in a frame, but I will continue to look at ways to incorporate them in a manner where everyone can get involved, not just a certain group of players.

Beyond that, I hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed Fire in the Philippines and the new Luzon Terrain. Hopefully we can come back soon with a different setup to include the USAAF.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Mann, I all most made the True landing. I ditched eight miles from C77, after starting out from C73. I think it was close to two hundred miles; and that with my rudder shot away. That caused several misdirections and my fuel burn to be just over what I needed it to be.  :(  The PBY ride back was a long one.

Allies,

Thanks for your efforts in trying to achieve the set mission objectives for frame #3. I appreciated the opportunity to have led you. It was fun.  :aok

BTW, a small victory. They only shot down two TBMs. That was effective fighter escort.  :aok

Cheers...
