Bomber boots
« on: October 20, 2008, 06:38:01 AM »

2 thoughts about bombers:

1st: let the bomber pilot (if flying a fomation) choose the distance from his bomber and the 2 boot till a maximum of 4-500 yards and the minimum as it is now by default. ".distance xxx"

2nd: since the problem in AH is that there's no way to spend perks (exept the arado) let someone choose the number of boots he want from the 2 by default till 4 (with the pilot it would mean an arrow of 5 bombers). Every boot would have a cost. If you loose that boot you loose the perk you payed it. The cost of the boots should be correlated to the bomber ENY.

The addition of formations was highly contested. Adding more drones to the formations would anger alot of people.

On the other hand, kudos for thinking of such a creative way of spending those bomber perks. :aok

Adding drones for free, i would contest it too, adding them paying your perks...why not?

Would be good if the gunnery system is slightly modified.  Otherwise it would be a bit hard attacking a buff formation with the possibility of 30+ 50cals auto aiming to a single point.

+1.

Half the time nowadays I don't even attack buffs if I don't have 600 rounds of ammo, 4K of alt on them and it's a bomber that doesn't have a thousand 50s pointed at you.

We can discuss about gunnery sistem for long time :)
IMO in AH we have great gunners (chewi is one) who are able to ripp off a wing to a 262 diwing with 45° dive in HO with 45° angle :)) but most of the players don't have such ability, don't attack a buff from his 6 range and it will be hard to get a ping.
Otherwise, someone will reply with comparison to IRL. In that case i would check 2 points: in IRL fighter pilots didn't had our aiming training and they wasn't flying comfortably seated at home drinking a cola... :)
Second, bombers strikes had hundred of bombers flying in formation.

This idea is to find finally a way to spend bomber perk, and I don't would use my perks to fly flying targets....
Maybe it would be possible to give to the drones less guns munitions?

Perk BUFF drones period.

No perks? You get one bomber. That's it. No drones.

And each drone that gets shot down you lose perks for.

Each drone you lose because you decide to dive-bomb with Lancs or pull the usual ridiculous high-speed diving evasive maneuvers that cause your drones' leash to snap costs you double the perks you spent for the drones.

AND the drone leash will be tightened considerably as well.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Until HTC starts inventing a strategic target besides HQ, drones are overkill.

Currently, a buff formation is much too big for their routine target; airfields.
