Cali AH convention
« on: October 21, 2008, 04:40:03 AM »
Its been thrown around on 200 a few times, and I want to get a feeler for how many would come to a Cali AH convention.

Back in the day when I lived in Seattle, and Warbirds was a big deal, they would do a mini Con. You don't have to make it a big deal. Find a place that will not cost much and have fun together. Mainly, something like a long day. You could even find a sdonut somewhere.

Anywhere in Sokal would be nice, but northern would be a nice train ride.

My first thought was socal too, but then I thought that if we had it in the bay area we might get more people from seatle. And even better would be to have it in San Jose mostly because thats where you can find the cheapest flights into the bay area, like $100 from orange county compared to $300 into Oakland or San Fran. But the location isnt up to me alone, we can have it where everyone wants to have it.

FWIW...

FunkedUp and I have organized a mini Con in 2003. I was a blast. We had probably some 50+ guys, we had two guest speakers, a very nice dinner, prizes and lots of good fun in general. We also went to see an Airshow in Salinas.

We broke even (+/- $50). A great success if you ask me.

Work has a bad habit of getting in the way of these things for me but, fundamentally, I'm in.

SoCal works, but the Bay Area's always good for a visit too.

Bay area would be killin two birds with one stone, my lady's aunt lives out there (we've been out twice to visit), only bummer is the cost. Flying for 3 gets costly nowadays, which is why I mentioned the train ride. We did it the first visit, was a ton of fun, despite a long delay home. We're also in the O.C. area a lot for the Angel games, that coinciding with a con would be great.
Downtown would be even less costly (for us, at least) too, metrolink is close by.

Me too!
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.
