How about an M-18?
« on: December 13, 2008, 08:43:03 AM »
An open-topped tank destroyer, could travel up to 55 mph, packed a traversable 76mm gun and a .50 cal machine gun.  Downside: was open-topped so it was susceptible to air attack, had thin armor so was susceptible to pretty much any direct shot bigger than a rifle.

Would be a good counter to the perk tanks, without being uber enough to be perked.

Would be a good way to uncamp a spawn.

Would be good for town defense against a GV assault.

would give the gameplay a whole new meaning. Would change things up bigtime.

I like it. Think of it as like a 76mm M8 :D

I like it too... Specifically for certain gameplay reasons...
Like the "get to the town QUICK" situations..

I think that image needs to be a little bit bigger.

So do I, it doesn't do the sexiness justice.

And to give an indication of its small size...

Imagine trying to hit that thing, moving at an angle across your FOV at about 50mph...

And if not the Hellcat, howzabowta M-10 Wolverine?

Dare I say both of them!!!!

And although Neary makes a somewhat valid point, there really is no reason to not have the Panther......  :salute

Except for the fact that the Panther was arguably the best German Tank of the war, even comparable to the Tiger??  :huh

Don't wanna hate on the M-18, but I'd rather see the Panther any day. :(

It was and it wasn't bro.....  The only issue, and it's a big one, is the side armor is paper thin. (40–50 mm thick)
Except for the fact that the Panther was arguably the best German Tank of the war, even comparable to the Tiger??  :huh

But the Panther is one of the main reasons the Ruskies upgraded the T34 to 85mm... Germany put a whole bunch of Panthers on the Russian front.  At that point, the only thing the T34's could do is try and flank the Panther.
