If felt it more appropriate to continue
this thread from the Bug Report forum and answer Enker's question here:
Best example for this are EW T34/76 duels. Two "average" players can stand off at D800 and shoot each other until they run out of ammo.
But if you know where to hit, it's a one-shot kill.
Erm, for reference, where would that be? Also, where would that be from an IL-2's/Hurricane IID's perspective?
In a close-mid range T34/76 duel you should aim for one of those three points:
Head on:
- Hit the gun mantlet to kill his gun or
- Hit the edge where upper and lower glacis do meet right under drivers hatch (see pic). Harder to hit but instand death.

From side
- Hit between the first and the second roadwheel
At long & very long ranges it's better to concentrate on hitting a track. After a few hits he's basically immobile.
With Il-2 and Hurricane 2D it's important to dive as steeply as possible onto your prey. Aim for turret top or engine compartment top. With the Hurricane, you have to dive almost vertically to get penetration. With the 37mm version of the Il-2, you can get penetration at lesser angles. But still: The steeper the better, and you are also avoid being shot down by the tank gun that way.
Killing the T34 with the 23mm version is
almost impossible.
