Can anyone confermed if this was really used or was it experimental?  From what i have gather, 78th FG used it.
And if it was used, HOLYSH**

I'm not sure but what I know is that in '44 the P-47's by this time in the war were being used for ground attack and close troop support. And the addition of the 20MM's were probably added to give the extra fire power for that role. The photos look authentic but I have to say it's the first time I have seen them used on what is apparently the ordnance racks.

I remember asking if the P-47 ever had wing mounted 20mms since it was so versatile, and someone brought this up. I think one of the guys said it wasn't used in combat
No one knows what the future may bring.

This has been posted before.  IIRC, either it wasn't used in combat, or it was hardly used at all.

yea, that is a wet dream come true if they really used it.  from the looks of it, the drum may hold 60 rounds.

Before you guys wet yourselves, it was an experimental installation tried in August 1944 and discarded due to excessive vibration.

LOL poor guys having to survive with only 8 50s and all those rounds in your Jugs :)
