It was October 4th 1943, the USS Ranger (CV-4) and its crew lurched off the shores of Bodo Norway in the Arctic circle.
A high priority Radar Communication installation awaited destruction by the aircrews of VB4. When the air group arrived
at the target they were astonished to find several troop carriers and cargo ships in Bodo Harbor as well. The German air
response was so completely unware and taken by surprised by the attack that the fighter interceptors were sent towards
the Russian border and never came in contact with the US Navy dive bomber group. The only German aircraft to come close
was a Ju88 that was shot down over the fleet. This historic snapshot records one of the very few operations where US Navy
pilots attacked German land based targets in the Arctic circle.

Odee,

It is completely possible that the opposing aircraft may never see each other in the first frame. This is a bombing snapshot for points...

The Wildcat carries two 100 pounders.

Unlike some bombardiers in the USAAF, and USN, I have attained higher than a 6th grade education level.  Even managed to read all the little words in the orders, thought the big words still give me fits.  Neener! Neener! ROFL!

Yes I know there is little likely hood of seeing air combat between the forces...  I still want to sit in the F4F cockpit, because I JABO far better than level bomb.

I assume the Allies are launching off of the CV in 8,17 - 9,17.Do they have a alternate landing field if their CV is sunk?

Raptor,

Affirmative and negative in that order. We can make the CV steerable for the Allies. During the actual mission the CV group maintained a high CAP. I thought that would be a little one sided in favor of the Allies, but that is what happened. The Axis had no fighters up what so ever, or at least they were not in combat range. We could also harden the carrier a bit more as well. I'm sure we can work something out to keep it challenging and fun.
