I-16 skins?

Greebo,

Have you prepped any other I-16 skins?  Chinese or such?

This is the I-16 Type 17 of Soviet ace Boris Safanov, who shot down 25 enemy aircraft in I-16s, Hurricanes and P-40s. There is a full biography at this site: http://www.2gvsap.org/safonov.htm

This was originally going to be the default skin but then I decided to skin the Segalaev aircraft as an alternate as this was closer to the late model I-16s the AH hybrid is based on. I posted both and let Waffle decide which one to use.

BTW Safanov's I-16 was one of the few home produced VVS aircraft that did have stars on the upper wings.

I haven't decided which other I-16s I will be skinning yet, but a winter one is certainly on the cards.

Hehehe!

Once again I see we think alike, Greebo! :)

Although, this is a famous scheme and flown by a famous ace so its not that surprising.

I like the ones with huge slogans, I think they are hilarious. :D

Other famous scheme would be this "FOR CCCP!":

Only a model, and there are many interpretations of this scheme...just posted a quick pic.

One from Finnish front:

Polikarpov I-16 Mark 24, Mladshiy Leytenant Ivan Bratushko, 286 IAP, Leningrad - Lake Ladoga area, Summer 1942.

Profile by Claes Sundin

...I'll have to try to find a photo of that last one.

This one says:
One of the six 24th Chungtui, IVth tatui I-16 to have taken part in the first conflict against the Zeros of the Yokoyama unit, near Chungking on sep. 13th 1940.  Two of the 24th's pilots were killed, including Yang Meng-ch'ing, commander, a third being critically wounded... These machines were more probably type 10 than typ 18, our documentation not enabling us to rule out either one.

The Rumanian one in Rattfink's post never saw combat, it was a captured one used for orientation and adversary training by the ARR.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Which wouldn't be let in game since, I'm guessing, this all took place in the Spanish Civil War and before September 1, 1939.
