I am looking into replacing my Linksys WRT54GL router in order to provide N compliant speeds for my wife's PC and laptop, and provide gigabit connectivity between the three workstations in my home office. My wife's PC has a PCI wireless card which I will upgrade, and a PC-MIA card for her Thinkpad. The n router should also support simultaneous connections with N and G devices. I have a netbook and an older Dell notebook. We also have a Samsung BD-P3600 Blu-Ray machine with wireless Netflix that works quite well with the old router. I am interested in learning about the experiences those on this forum can relate. Keep in mind that I will never use the wireless connection to connect to AH. Both of my AH machines are using the wired ports.
So... N routers, PCI and PC-MIA adaptors... what works? what rocks? and what sucks?

I have been using the D-LINK DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router 802.11G/B Draft N Wireless Router Triple Antenna QoS for a bout a year. I have 3 workstations direct wired to it, and varios combinations of an HP wireless N laptop, A wireless N Macbook, an ipod touch, an xbox 360, a PS3 and an asus netbook(N as well I think) On wireless. Two teenage boys, Me and my poor long suffering girlfriend, but all very active net users . I came from a wrt54gl as well. And it would conflict with wireless phones, especially on the xbox. This one seems fine. It comes with nagware home networking software that I stopped using. I dont do anything technical with it. I use this and Norton to protect my PCs and have no issues at all that I have noted from intrusions(ADSL connection)
looking on the NCIX forums for this thing, there does seem to be an issue with some of them, loosing connections. I don't leave it on 24/7 so I don't know if I would see that or not. All in all I would recommend it. It reaches from upstairs middle of the house to anywhere in the yard with the macbook no problem.

It didn't take him too long to learn that trick, what about three years now.

Can I have your old GL if you're planning on getting rid of it? I absolutely adore the things and need another router, but am broke as ever... Would trust a router from here more than eBay or some such.

I recently bought a Belkin N150 wireless router but for some reason after a while the modem light blinks orange and internet light is off...but I just unplug it and plug it back in and it works again...any ideas? Seems like a nice router, but if it is going to keep doing this I'll bring it back.

My netgear RANGEMAX WIRELESS-N GIGABIT ROUTER WNR3500 has been working great. I use the wired ports for AH2 and the wireless to support the rest of the house for browsing etc. Infidelz

yup. Heavy usage I gotta turn mine off, let the caps discharge. I had a modem I stuck in the freezer for 3 minutes at a pop when it was 110 in our ac less apartment. Heat will cause it

I would say that too but our house is AC cooled and stays around 60-70 normally (Plus I live in NY, normally cool to begin with).

Wait until Wireless N is standardized before making the switch. For game play, you are still going to be limited by your Internet connection.
