naval forces
« on: December 16, 2009, 12:13:37 PM »
in my opinion this game needs more naval forces not just task groups, pt boats, and lvts!I propose task forces made up of:
2 cvs
6 destroyers per cv
2 crusers per cv
new ships for task forces and amout of damage that sinks it:
1 battleship per cv 5,000 lb
4 patrol boats per cv 750 lb
1 super cv 10,000 lb

Do you realize that the amount of damage you propose for the CV and *laugh* Super CV is actually less than was is currently needed to sink the CV?

Warphonex,

What do you think about adding submarines as well? Do you think that's a good addition to your already proposed idea?

haha im not trying to be rude so please dont think that but all of this is alot of coding... but ive wanted it so far so im backing this post...again... no super CV though... give us an enterprise though please? submarines though? we'd need depth, ocean currents, sonar, new torpedoes...the sub idea is kinda crazy for this game style that was originally based on planes ya know?

One can argue that submarines already exist in the game, it's just that you never see them because they are submerged.  :D

I was being sarcastic, which is what I usually am on this forum.

No, she wasn't. She was no larger than any of her three sister ships (actually, Hornet was bigger than she and Yorktown) and her aircraft compliment was not much, if any, bigger than that of Saratoga and Lexington. The Essex-class carriers were all larger.

Probably the first of what you could legitimately call a supercarrier was Midway, and I'm not sure if she was even in service when the war ended.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Our carrier IS Essex-class. USS Randolph, IIRC.

I have some ideas on the patrol boats:
guns: 1 5 in. single in middle , 1 20mm quad in front , and 5 20mm singles along edge

battle ships:
guns: 4 16in quads batteries for the main, 10 40mm quads serounding the tower, 1 40mm quad in front, 10 5in singles, 5 5in twins, and 30 20mm singles

tell me what  you  think includs ai guns

All of the ships in game are/ are going to be based on real ships, not just made up.
