Hitech radio station
« on: December 16, 2009, 07:54:39 PM »
Flying in a horde, many times we are bombarded with constant radio chatter. Considering the most likely model of the Aces High player base demographic, most of the time I hear voices of older men being interweaved with pre-adolescent squeeks.

Now I'm all for communication, but sometimes this gets a little overwhelming.

Couldn't Fred Novak flying his Spitfire Mark V over the channel tune to English and German music radio stations during a boring sortie?

If so, I'd like to do the same. I'd like HTC to provide me with several radio channels, each one pertaining to a particular flavor of music. We could have a WW2 music channel, a more modern Pop channel for the early 20's age group. A house/dance channel for all that EU early 20's youth. Music radio channel selection should be bounded to hot keys, for immediate music style change, greatly easing switching when faced with a very dynamic MA environment.

This is the best idea I've seen today.

Sometimes I like the banter, some days I've give my soul for a "squelch range."
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

Been discussed a few times before..   I think a major factor would be the royalties for broadcasting such music... and I don't know if HTC would want to assign somebody DJ duties ..

I think that they should get a bunch of unlicsenced music and patch it into the program, cop an update from HTC on todays song list and it will play it,

Sounds like a winner. +1

you know how much research will go into making sure a song is not copyrighted?  not including what kind of music, do you like this song or that song.  to much trouble.  better yet get a radio and put it next to computer and play whatever you want.

I would just settle for a range mute option. I don't understand why we don't have this.

i would think a war time station would do the trick
tune in for those buff missions or when rtb
the channel could be dependent on which plane your in...
British channel Brit planes.German ch for German iron etc
leave the modern stuff out.....we can all sort what we want at home..
but  actual war time recordings would rock  er i mean jitterbug... :D

They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

Just tuned into a streaming radio station that played Jazz and Big Band and had it running through Windows Media Player while logged into game.

Seemed to work ok. I could hear all the other sounds together with it..

Certainly added some nice background noise.

This would be ideal if:

1. The radio plays automatically in the tower.
2. During flight, a pilot has the ability to tune channel 5 to a known radio station... IE Channel 5: 300 for english. 301 for german.
