Also, strange as it is, check to see if Windows Update wants to install a driver after you've installed them. They have a version that fixes a glitch that doesn't affect Aces High, but causes games that use the joystick's trigger as an "enter key" (The X series of games being the one I had trouble with) to really wig out.
Agreed that there is no reason to use SST unless you want to make macros to spam country channel. Even then, I could never get a macro to work properly.
That's odd.. I used to run the SST software all of the times for several different games (including Aces High) and I had it programmed to all kinds of neat things. For example, my safety FIRE button was programmed that if I held down the pinkie trigger (for shift) and held it down for two seconds it would send ENTER ENTER ENTER. When I released it, it would send O. Basically it would eject me, and when I released it, the chute would open. Since it was shifted, AND had to be held down for at least two seconds, that made it very difficult (although not impossible as I managed it a couple of times) to accidentally eject.
I never had a single problem with their software, but I took great care to program what I could through aces high (leaving those commands UNPROGRAMMED in SST). Others are correct though. The general rule is that if you don't need any of that fancy programming, then don't install SST. Personally, I liked having a SHIFT command and used it frequently!
