240 or 9600GT

i just bought a 240 to replace my 9400GT, my boss just upgraded his 9600GT to a 460 and offered the 9600GT to me.

based on my research the 9600Gt is a DDR3  256 bit bus and the 240 is a DDR5 with a 128 bit bus. and the 240 has a lower clock speed then the 9600GT based on online reviews i see that the 9600 just barely beats out the 240 in most games. in reguards to AH how do the 2 fair?

i was looking for something more practical results with AH. i saw those results but didnt reflect the AH results, i noticed that the 9600GT is faster 9800GT and the 8800GT is faster then both of those so i take those results with a grain of salt

You seem to be very critical like TheZohan used to be.   Someone offered very relevant results and you discard them.   Good luck getting help in the future.

critical? masherbrum,  i simply wants someones opinion, not some benchmarks not related to AH. i already stated and knew that the 9600GT and 240 where close in benchmarks so someone posting the facts i already knew was not relivant to the question. maybe you should read the question first before making remarks that have no business being made. its people like you that just like to be heard and provide no positive discussion. my reply to RTholmes was in no way insulting or putting down his reply to me, but simply he was telling something i already knew and saw. but those benchmarks dont mean nothing cause the 9600 will beat the 240 in 3dmark but in the game crisis the 240 beats the 9600Gt so his benchmarks doesnt give me the answer i wanted to know and i stated that

They all work in AH....how is that for someone opinion related to AH. I have had all but the 240 versions...waste of money there...just upped from a GTX260 to a GTX460EE and its great.

lol Reschke, thanks, well i figured they did. this is just a temp improvement til i can save up the 180 for my 460. just trying to figure which option to take now that i have the 9600gt in the mix.

Tom's hardware also shows the 8800 GT as marginally faster than the 9800 GT on the sum of FPS Benchmarks, so I'd think the performance numbers are pretty close. 

What I do is this (you can do what you want, of course).  I use the http://www.videocardbenchmark.net to make a first pass comparison of video cards.  Then, I go to Tomshardware, and I look at the benchmarks that most closely match the resolution and AA settings I'm concerned with, and then compare from there.   Sometimes, there are surprises, not generally in which is better, but in how much the difference between cards is in various settings.

But since there isn't an AH benchmark, you are going to have to interpolate the results.

well i installed my GT 240 and seems to doing nicely i bumped up the graphics downloaded the hi-res pack, should do me well til can save up some money and get a 5800 or 400 series card

well i got surprised someone came in looking for money and sold me his GTX 260 for 40.00 so i guess i am stoked! i guess its doesn't matter what is better now lol \

buy a new case, would be better.  unless of course you have a brand name computer in which case you will need almost everything new.

i ended up modding my case, the Hard Drive holder was in the way of the card so i cut out a little piece, now the card fits.
