They gave you the B29 and now you want something to bomb too? and you want it to matter? Will it never end?
Okay...
+1

One thing I've learned VERY quickly about the B-29... I stand a FAR better chance upping a 262 and fly it over 3 CV groups clumped up nice and tight until I ran low on fuel and RTB'ed than to make a single pass over a Capital in a formation of B-29's. There are times I will up a lone B-29 and TRY to do 5 runs on a Capital. I have
yet to make it through the 3rd sortie....

Even so, I STILL say the flak is very light for the target type.

Bar, I am (now) aware of the subject line being a LITTLE too long. Ya know,
just a nudge.

That being said, when I think about the prospect of large bomber groups making their way to a Capital....

Maybe, just maybe, the 91st and other bomber dedicated groups would like the change. I recall seeing one of the 91st mention that it really isn't worth the effort (other than to just do it for the hell of it) to hit a Capital as it doesn't accomplish much and the rewards are low. This is true, currently. The idea I laid out would change that (hopefully).
My plan for it to be truly successful; it would need to be done in one go, and in waves: (a basic plan is better than no plan after all

)
1st Wave: Hit the Industrial Center. GOAL: 19% or less
2nd Wave: Back up the 1st wave, hit Secondary otherwise. GOAL: IF 1st wave fails to bring IC to 19% or less, hit IC. IF 1st wave succeeds, hit Outlying strats
3rd Wave: Hit Outlying Strats. GOAL: Reduce Outlying strat output to required percentage
In that order would be the size of the bomber groups as well. Ideally, there would be 3 sets of bombers per Outlying strat. 30 bombers total with the Outlying strats as an objective. 30 for the IC alone. Waves would be roughly one sector apart to allow more time to line up on targets. Did I mention large bombers streams earlier?

Now could you imagine escorting something like that Bar?
The reason behind it is, if the IC is NOT reduced to 19% or less when the bombs hit the outlying strats, the damage inflicted prior to the IC reaching 19% or less may very will recover instead of sticking. This plan would insure that when bombs hit the Outlying strats, that the damage will
stick.
And yes, I am being optimistic about the idea.

Will I hold my breath? No.

I am waiting to see if there will be counters to the idea. Maybe something that could make it a better one as well. There ARE cons to it, I just bloody well can't think of any other than the time/development requirement.

Otherwise, it's not an outlandish request and has some merit.
