28 Jun 2012 Thursday 8th AF Mission
« on: June 26, 2012, 05:11:20 PM »
Those who participated last week. :salute

I will be conducting another high altitude, deep penetration mission into enemy territory.  NOTE (This is a mission conceived and led by myself and not any other Arabian Knights.)  Direct any questions in the forums or in the MA's to myself.  Other AK's will not have any information on these missions other than what is posted in the forums.

Launch Time will be at 8PM EST/7PM CST (US) for B-17's and B-24's

Escort Fighters will launch 30 minutes later by Zoney.  He will have a seperate mission going for that.  Any questions on fighters should be sent to Zoney in the forums or in the MA's.

Expect the Mission to last at least 2 hours and maybe a full 3 hours.  Plan ahead of time to allow your schedule to accomadate.  Those who miss the start time, should launch thier aircraft from a close airfield and catch-up.  Those who arrive in the Late War Arena too late (hour or more) will have to wait until following week to participate.

Launch Country for 8th AF Mission will be Bishop.  Vox channel TBD that night.

I would like to see at least 12 sets of bombers and 2 dozen escort fighters for Week 2.  More will be better.  Tell your friends to get into the Mission.  This will be a weekly event.  Let's make it grow.  Don't worry about base taking and porking ords and furballing around close inland CV's.  Come fly the Unfriendly Skies with 8th AF and Luftwaffe planes of death.

Anyone wanting to head up a Luftwaffe Mission on an opposing country, let me know and details can be worked out.

I'm hoping to get out of the office in time this week. Last week ended up being a wash as I got hung up at the office.

Gents,  :salute, this is a good thing.  It is run at altitude and will attract defenders.

Fighters will work together to assure that no attackers make unimpeded passes on our buffs.  If you are a new guy and don't think you know enough to do a mission like this, well, this is where you will learn.

Never done one of these missions as a buff pilot ?  AKKuya is patient and forgiving and you will learn alot.

Last week, it was all about the mission, not what we were going to close and take and it was immersive and fun.

I know that there is some fairly boring climbouts as we get in position, then we spot bandits and the excitement level goes through the roof.  Maybe this could give you just a taste of what it was like for the real men who flew these planes back in the day.  Hours of boredom accentuated by moments of sheer terror.  Feel a little of what they felt.

Come join us, please.

Thank you,

Z

Buffs launch in 3.5 hours, escorts in 4 hours and I just learned someone is making Margaritas for us all.  Will they be served before we take off, during flight, or after we land.

Fun mission. Bombers got slaughtered but not before I racked a 163, 190D, P51D, and P47M!  :devil  :rock

:salute all those involved. vLance gets a special shout out for being such a decent sport.  :lol

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

During the raid you could look around and see Maverick, Goose, and Iceman.  How fun is that ?  We really needed a Jester and a Viper, then I woulda hopped on my ultracool Ninja Sportbike and done wheelies down the runway !

(I've actually done wheelies down airport runways BTW)

TopGun, what a great addition to our world you've all become.  Wtg Boner.
