Pyro - Motion Simulators with Aces High?
« on: December 15, 2012, 01:10:36 PM »
Does anyone know if Aces High outputs flight telemetry data that would allow the use of motion simulators and the associated software?  (See links below for a couple examples.)

Both of the software programs below are mainly aimed at autoracing simulators, but both also support some flying simulators such as Xplane, Falcon 4, IL2, etc.  So I am wondering if AH outputs the necessary data to support a motion sim rig.  If it does, I am pretty confident that either (or both) of these companies would be willing to update their software to include AH support.

At an AH con some few years ago, there was a company there with two motion sims using AH as the flight sim. Enclosed cockpits, to. Can't remember the name. Since they managed to make it work with AH, there must be outputs used to drive it.

Not necessarily, they could have used the controllers to dictate the movement.  Back at the '98 WB Con, there was a guy from Alaska (Wolfala might remember him) that brought along a motion simulator that was powered by a CH Force FX joystick and a dedicated Elite game card.  The motion simulator would move with joystick/rudder input and not from any output provided by the game itself.

My understanding is that if AH has a telemetry API then a plug-in for the motion sims could be easily developed.  The E-69 developer would REALLY like to produced the plug-in and I'm guessing the SimXperience folks would also.

We've sent that info out before for use in somebody's motion simulator, so it's something we can do.
