C.202 and C.205 skins
« on: March 03, 2013, 12:00:27 PM »
Does anyone have any C.202 or C.205 schemes they would like to reserve? I'd like to skin a few now while I've got some time, but don't want to pick something that another skinner would like to do later.

I had in mind to make 'Dai Banana'  Maresciallo Tarantola's and update Mag. Luigi Filippi's 202's. If possible to update the 205 skins that are in game now when the new model becomes available.

I'd like to reserve my 3 ANR C205s. I intend to update them for the new model.

I'd also like to reserve a c202 from Mario Pinna, 75 squadriglia 23 gruppo 3 Stormo. What sets this apart is the rather large green spots in his camo pattern. Rather different than the smaller spot patterns.

I've decided to do one skin of each plane and one update (if allowed). I don't know which one I'm going to do yet so I am just showing the ones that I am interested in now while I research the skins a bit. I will pick the ones that I will do in a later post. If anyone also has any info related to these skins it would help save some time. And if you are interested in any of the ones that I post, just say so. I have no problem coming off of any skin that I haven't made up my mind on yet  ;)

For the sake of simplicity I've translated the Italian words to their English counter parts. Don't hate me for it.

C.202 of 73rd Squad of 9th group, 4th flock "F Baracca"

1st Squad of 1st group hunting "Veltro." If I had to pick just one, this would be it.

C.202 84th Squad X group C.T. 4th flock "Folgore"

These are the few that I'm interested in. If it's not already reserved I would definitely like to do the 1st Squad of 1st group hunting "Veltro."

1-18 is currently a skin by Airmess but he's no longer around. Somebody else will pick it up, no doubt. I never liked how he did his skin for that plane. Didn't do it justice. I've got a similar grey ANR ride but with a different set of markings that is from the same unit. Mine is 7-1, although I could do a different plane code when I redo it. I'll be redoing that for the new planes. No reason you can't work on it also, but just letting you know something is in the works. :)

Oooh, the Veltro one looks really nice. I mean I haven't seen the all the skins yet, but that certainly has the look of my favorite skin for the c.205.

I give up... I scoured Google for an hour and couldn't find any pics of a 205 that matched your markings. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough (or doing it right). I would say that a little competition never hurts, but against someone with so much more experience I would most likely loose.  :D I'll still make the skin and submit it, leave the decision to HTC.

That's a fair comment. In fact I do not have any real references to 7-1 other than some references Gatt helped me with long long ago. The numbers are just sequentially assigned, so 7-1 would have been one of the first planes in the squadron. I could really have chosen any number within the squadron's range. I chose plane #7 because on one particular page differentiating the different Squadriglia, it was showing the color codes. For 3 Sq it chose 5-3, for 2 sq it chose 13-2. For 1 Sq it chose 7-1. I had seen the others elsewhere and took the logical course that 7-1 was also for a plane. They used the same type of camo pattern on all planes in the same squadriglia, so I knew it was pretty much accurate.

Now that you bring this point up, that's a good thing for me to change when I redo the skin. There are several more famous examples from this squadron. I'll pick one of those.

P.S. I think a better translation for Gruppo Caccia would be "Pursuit Group" -- but I say this because in the U.S. we called fighters "Pursuit" planes, hence P-designations (P-51, P-47, etc). However when I named my skins I shortened Gruppo Caccia to GrC, so my skin was named "1º Sq, 1º GrC" for example.

I went through this thread so far, plus checked in game and on the skins admin page for all the status of existing skins for the C.202 and C.205, here's what we have currently got:-

Listed as Air Force/Squadron/Plane number then skinner and status.

I couldn't find a plane number for Krusty's 75 Squadron C.202 and I'm assuming FTJR's 3/3 aircraft is an ANR C.205.

Greebo, the C202 skin I want to do would be new, not a re-do of an existing. Just FYI.

I lumped all the new and to be redone skins onto one list to keep it simple.

I missed that photo you included of 75-1 so I'll amend the details of that on the next list. BTW I have found a photo of 7-1 amongst my C.205 books which I can scan and email if you like.
