Just upped a couple times and those dang AI kicked my butt!  To those who haven't ever given the AI a chance & think they are just mindless, automated aircraft, go on in and give it a whirl.  I think you will be very surprised at the fight they put up. :salute

It's 8am in the UK and 5am EST (daylight savings still?).

The latest AvA AI mission should last until Noon UK time unless someone goes in and kills them all hehe. Good luck with that!

It's a Continuation War setup and you can find the description here.

Enjoy.

The current 4 hour staged mission has been restarted in the AvA.

For those who don't know, the AI planes are flying a circuit with bombers and escorts. Choose your side and plane and up to intercept the enemy. They put up a good fight that'll leave you in the tower laughing. I'm not up on all the tips for fighting them, but I'm assured you can beat them in a 1 v 2 but look out for the second pair!

is it possible to get the ai to use the same flight model as the player?

I just tried it and the only thing I could think as a 109 out turned my i16 was... cheating #@!#! ai. seems a problem with so many games the developers think it is better to make the ai challenging than realistic and sacrifice the flight model constraints the real player faces to give the ai a crutch.

it cold be fun if the ai used same flight models as players imo. am I wrong? this was onlya first impression and hope I am but its so rare that ai plays fair.

I'll let one of the experts clarify, but at least while you're building one of these missions, you mustn't exceed the maximums or minimums of a particular plane's flight model.

The next best answer I can think of is to film the engagements and replay it with an eye on what the AI is doing. I found that a second plane I wasn't tracking would bounce me unexpectedly, so perhaps that might be what's happened to you. htc is still trying to prefect this so I'm sure your observations could be useful.

One of our complaints is the AI's current ability to fly under the ground instead of colliding with it. This is obvious when the mission is air starting and looks terrible. I can't say if it happens during a fight, they keep me far too busy to notice.

its easy to force an overshoot on ai but if you turn fight them in a flat circle they seem to always stay just out of your gunsight regardless of how much betetr your plane should turn vs theirs.

thats probably the most noticabel diference between them and human opponents.

also they can see through the underside of their plane and will roll and attack you even if you approach from their blindspots below them.

this is only an initial impression vs typical player behavior and is in no way scientific or methodically proven.
