Just received a phone call from a friend that said she went down with two on board.  Soon as I can I'll try and post up a link.    :pray for the pilot and passenger.  Here's the news link, sad news.

Sad to hear. Especially for the loss of life
But as far as the aircraft is concerned
Im sorry but I think its time we stop putting the originals in the air and instead build full scale 100% replicas for use in air display. By the time most of these things are rebuilt and older technology swapped out for newer stuff to make them current. Much of the plane isnt original anyway. We like to say "that plane flew on X amount of missions. When the reality is. Only parts of that plane flew on x amount of missions

A brand new P-51 built using original blueprints would still be a P51

Sad news indeed. One of the guided fishing boats reported seeing it go down.

The museum is small and located at the airport in Galveston. It is worth seeing as the planes rotate out and in as some go to shows around the country.
