Walked out of the cinema in disgust
« on: February 15, 2014, 06:51:14 AM »
Monuments Men..

worst film ever!

The plot was transparent, the acting was bad, the combat was terribly unrealistic, George Clooney should be shot. Never have I seen so many famous actors made to look so useless.

Worst bit in the film? When matt damon finally breaks down the defences of the French woman who gives him a tie and her life's work in art cataloguing then practically pleads with him for a little cuddle and warmth and he's all like 'nah, thanks for the tie though, bye.'

Oh, and the only people to die are the French and English guys.

Sickeningly over patriotic and disgracefully boring. Clearly a high budget film that has absolutely no value to the viewer what-so-ever. The only good part of the film is the fact you get to see a C47, B17, Jug and a spitfire. Not even the legendary Bill Murray could save this one.

The misses and I walked out about 20 mins before the end in disgust.

0/5 stars.

absolute rubbish

do not watch

Doesnt seem to be a whole lot out there at the moment. I still want to catch "American Hustle" but it was a pretty weak winter movie scene.

Monuments Men is based on a 400 page non-fiction book.  It's a true story.  I'm disappointed to hear that its conversion to cinema went so horribly.
Currently ignoring Vraciu as he is a whoopeeed retard.

Did you go into the movie looking for it to be a historically accurate documentary? If you did, then that is where your problem lies.

Hollywood covers a weak story with a bunch of block buster stars. You go to see the movie for the actors, NOT to story. I'm interested in seeing it, but I never did expect much from it.

Most of the reviews I've seen in the press agree with Bat on this one.... Save your money, watch it on cable where you can turn it off and take a nap.

I've seen it and I agree with Bat…

It should win an award for biggest let down.

I saw a reviewer on TV the other morning. He had read the book and was looking forward to it. But was disappointed too. The simple fact that they changed the names of the characters tells you something. A bit of a misfire by Cooney.

On that basis. I'll give it a miss too.

On the other hand he really loved Lego - The movie. Fortunately I have children so I have an excuse to go.

American hustle is good, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Walked out of this in a free screening after 25 minutes.  Pacing wise it felt like a bad imitation of Goodfellas, and I couldn't stomach trying to force Amy Adams into a queen of seduction roll.  Its just not her.  The movie should reach exposition 30 minutes in at the latest.  Pointless, annoyingly overly stylized film.

A co worker of mine went and saw it.  He gave it pretty much the same review as the OP.

:rofl This is what people spend their money on, going to see actors.  Its an outrage.  :old:

It's a movie. It's purpose is to entertain not to get every single fact right. Yeah I noticed some things, but it kept me interested.
