Reading: "Way of Warrior" by Claire Lee Chennault...

Hand't finished yet... but this is spectacular reading. Something that people usually don't write about their own air forces.

What is funny that the book that was written in 40s with description of all the "internal wars", bureaucracy and high command stubbornness remained relevant through the much later period. It is very interesting to read direct and "non-restrained" criticism that is rarely seen in books - before the "politically correct" was born. Its interesting to see how bad tactics created over and over again to pay huge price at the battle field (not the first time...)

Amazing how it shows the importance of training, tactics and organization over the technology and even numerical superiority.

BTW, this brings me to thoughts about how the technology today is "glorified" withing modern US military circles...

What do you think about that book?

Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.
