so I have the throttle unit completed. Just waiting for its plane brain.

20 momentary buttons/1 palm hat configuration
4 pots

I might not ever use all possibilities but wtf, might as well go whole hog, use whats useful.
Hopefully I wired all correctly. he he

Very cool MAde. Looks like a prop from Blake's 7 (compliment). How is the hat switch working out?

OK been finally flying with it. Here it is installed on flight chair.

The palm hat works very well, better than my previous build. 4 buttons gets me 8 views. Add some single buttons for top and back high view and I got could sit rep. I still forget other buttons uses dam it. Never could type. Plus I have not played in awhile.......................

The new controller module while pricey, seems much smoother than my previous code mercs one. Plus now instead of 2 plugged units, now I have just 1.

Now I have completed the finished version of my home brew cockpit, should last me till I drop ded.

One idea I came up with that you might try is to fabricate a 9 point hat switch. So pressing down on the hat as well gives a total of 17 options. I use press down only for straight up, and the rest of the eight hat positions are modified with an 'up look' as well. I think in fact there are so many view options with this approach I don't even use all 17, but it's still work in progress.
