Unable to launch AH3 DX9 since last update

When I click on the shortcut to start the game I am receiving a message in a small box that is saying "Initialization failed with -9 mainWLD_FAILED -1

DX11 version starts up but my pc supports the game better with DX9. Gonna re-download the game and see what happens but wanted to share and will check back for suggestions

Re-installing the game over the top of the existing installation will fix it.  Be sure to remove the desktop ICON before you do so.

This is the 2nd time this has happened to me, the first being back on October 27th.

However, now the Download keeps failing from HTC. Some type of Network error Chrome says.

You can, if you like.  You can always re-create it, if you want.  It is not going to impact the game.

Once again, this has happened. Unfortunately, right before FSO.

Not very pleased. Uninstalled and reinstalled from last download when I had the same problem two patches ago. Now it doesn't work at all. Downloading again and will miss FSO.

Nef, are you running any type of anti-xxxx software? 
Did you happen to install the game into the "C:\Program Files" or "C:\Program Files (x86)" folders? 
Are you running the game from an SSD?

All the above can contribute to what you are seeing.

I use the Windows Defender that comes with 10, so I guess No to all three questions.

So after a patch, you cannot run the DX9 version at all?  Even through the Windows Start menu?
When the patch is finished, does it say it was successful?

What happens when you try to launch the game from the Windows Start menu, or Desktop ICON, or directly through the Windows File Explorer?

No. The first download of 19 I saw an error go by in the install, then I was met with the Initialization failed with -9 mainWLD_FAILED -1, upon trying to run the game.

Then I immediately tried to over install my last download which was 16, after that I can't tell you much of what, how or why I did what.

I downloaded the latest game file and went to bed, complete uninstall and reinstall this morning and working fine now, thankfully this time I had all my settings, skins and terrains saved.
