Hello Gentlemen,

I just learned that Steve Travell, aka -pips-, passed away after an intense struggle against a nasty form of cancer. Steve was a former squadmate of mine (249 squadron RAF, Tangmere Wing) when I was playing Warbirds. I never met him personally and didn't know him closely, but I can tell he had a big heart and a strong and kind personality. All my former squadmates, most of them close friends of him, are deeply affected by his loss.

I realize, without knowing most of them, that some AH players coming from the WB community knew him. This post is for them. For those who want to contact 249 Squadron or even -pips-'s family, I can give you the coordinates of ramjet (aka --rj--), 249 Squadron's CO and close friend of -pips-.

Thank you.

PS: Maybe some people will think that this should better be posted in the 'Off topic' forum. Strictly speaking, they're right. But I believe that much more people read regularly this forum than the 'Off topic' one, and I wanted to reach the max of you. Besides, I think that AH and WB communities are very closely related and shouldn't be kept apart just because the games are runned by different companies.

Always sad news to hear.  Thanks for sharing it with the broader sim community.  There is a real sense of comradrie amongst us virtual pilots and it's a comfort to see our response.  pips' passing is a reminder to me to appreciate the here and now and to remember what is important in life.  The Tong family's prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

May -pips- find peace and may his loved ones find the strength they need to deal with his loss and go on.

Always sad to see a fellow flier pull the gear up for the last time.
