WTG Citabria!

When I logged off last night, Citabria had a 39 or so AIRCRAFT kill streak going!  One plane (P-38, I think), 39 kills, and he was still at it!  Glad you were on our side last night Cit.!

Please do not take this thread as an opportunity to bash smart, safe, conservative, high-alt. tactics.  (Unless you think that you can do the same in a furball!)

I love them HOT-Rearm and refuel spots  

Higheest streak i ever had was 10 (nothing for some of teh killers out there) and then i .ef'ed out with BINGO Nerves

I have a question about hot rearm - does it reset your WEP limit? I know it doesn't cool down your engine.

Good work Citi!  Used to have the patience for that along time ago! (64 kills in Warbirds, no hot re-fuels, meek compared to those that had 80-100 kills)  Now I take unnecessary chances, hehe, still fun!

For the record:

A single sortie is one cycle - takeoff to landing.

I think what Cit did (WTG!) is fly several sorties without going to the bathroom  

BTW Cit, how many sorties in same plane during this 40 kill rampage?

How long did this mission last?
Approx. how many refuels?
How many meals did you eat?
Did you even receive a ping?
What were the alts. of the highest and lowest kills?
Did you quite out of bordom, fatigue or what?

dunno, I carried 100% fuel and drop tanks so I never really landed for need of fuel. towards the end of the streak I was rearming after only 3-4 kills due to the difficult long range shots i was taking using large amounts of ammo to down maneuvering enemy airplanes at wierd angles.


Did you even receive a ping?
i was pinged 1 time shooting down the first of 5 or 6 b17s

What were the alts. of the highest and lowest kills?
the first 10 kills were before rearming in a furball between 27-16 at 5k. the next 8 kills were from 1 sortie at 25k next to a1. the rest of the kills were over field 13 and field 2 and field 1 mostly at high altitudes of 25k-30k.
the kills became harder because the rooks were actively looking for my aircraft.
the last 3 kills were very difficult. numerous rooks were after me during these kills since I was the only enemy aircraft in the area. they were tired of fighting at 26-30k so they crawled up to 35k to try to bounce me but they dove down on me and blew their altitude giving me back the advantage, I managed to shoot down two of them before the rest left for fuel or what not. my last kill was when i was rtb. I found a b17 and shot it down then landed w 40 kills.

Did you quit out of bordom, fatigue or what? I wanted to see if I could virtually match the p-38 ace kill record of 40 kills by bong just to see if I could. I reached 40 kills as I was returning to land so I decided that was enough for me and landed then exited out of the P-38.

I'll bet that Cit doesn't have the whole thing on one film!  

WTFG Cit, thats one hell of an accomplishment!  I've been trying it since the hot spots were introduced.  So far I've reached 7, during 3 sorties,  2+3+2.  I was forced to bail, while killing a B26.  I got him, but he managed to shoot my wing off.

Usually I don't have the self discipline to disengage and "fly smart".  The gung-ho spirit overwhelms me way too often.  

Lets see when somebody betters Cit's record!

Ive been kamakazi flying all tour straffing acks and jaboing. I got tired of that though and went up to fly to survive.

it was tough but very challenging and fun.
