Interesting episode...

It looks like they may leave Herschel in peace in the end.  Rick will realize that he and the group are not much different to Herschel then the two guys in the bar.  I predict that they will leave the farm voluntarily.  But the hand washing part where Shane is washing Carol shows us that he is definitely going around the bend.

Looks like they are going to have a big gun fight with some living people too.

If any of you guys are watching the show afterwards "comic book men"
the flea market/auction they are selling the stuff outside at is about 20 min from my house.

During the summer months. Think of the largest flea market you've ever seen. then multiply by 10 LOL

I was mildly entertained by the episode. The writers seem to have started to get off of the soap opera kick a little bit. The encounter with the roving group was a new wrinkle and about time. It seems every individual or group they have run into to date has been pretty friendly. This is the first time they showed anything like the locust personality of survivor. It sure showed the trooper as being pretty darn fast with that Python though.

Shane's poor me scene washing hands was an exercise in pity manipulation. I'm wondering how long before they have the eventual blow up between him and the rest of the group.

Why they had to show the "wifey" heading off into the sunset to pass on the same info the group she was going to find and get hershel already knew is a mystery. Pretty clumsy way to toss in more angst and suspense. It would have been better to just have a couple walkers show up at the farm instead.

I figure the farm is going to become untenable in the future. Either overrun by walkers or the anti social roving band of living folks. I'd almost bet that hershal and his daughter join the group now that he's "seen the light of day". They need a medic anyhow.

Yeah Maverick . I bet Hershal and the daughter join Rick and the group now . Don't know what is going to come from Shane . I figure he will be killed off pretty soon by Steve .
Did any of you guy's sign up for the sweepstake's ? I did all though I have not won any thing in my life , it was still fun watching for the word's .

Wasn't the best episode by far... but it wasn't bad.  Lori definitely needs her head checked.... shes the biggest idiot in the whole group.   Shane is the guy you love to hate... as much as you want to see him leave, or get killed... the show would be boring without him in it.

Personally... Daryl is my favorite.   :aok

I did watch the "talking dead" show after the second showing of the mid season opener. They (the director) did let slip that there will be more zombies in future episodes ("we heard you") and that they will be leaving the farm. He did not say why they would be leaving the farm just that they would be. His statement about more zombies is that future episodes would be "zombielicious". Of course previous talking dead shows did state that in the comic, shane dies early on and this show indicated they did not feel obligated to follow the comic book all that closely. They also will not explore "what made the zombies in the first place. They just "are" and the show is bout dealing with survival in the zombie world. The preview showed the rest of the two dead guy's group pounding on the saloon door and asking about their buddy. SHOCK! Hershal had a gun in his hand next to the door and looked ready to use it on the intruders should they force the door.

Since lori crashed the car after running down a zombie while reading a map driving down the road (DUHH dummy!), I'm wondering if there is not a miscarriage in the works to remove the pregnancy complication. Unless of course she is preggers in real life then they will write around it or kill her off.

Of course previous talking dead shows did state that in the comic, shane dies early on and this show indicated they did not feel obligated to follow the comic book all that closely.

They have already deviated away from the comic quite a bit... Sophia is a perfect example.  All the comic did was set the stage for the series... which is now taking its own direction.  In the comic, it is actually Carl that kills Shane when he tries to kill Rick... for some reason I dont see that happening in the series, but who knows.  Another thing about the comic that doesnt hold true in the series (yet)... is that anyone who dies... for any reason... turns into a walker.  But who knows... last night was the first time I think we have seen in the series someone living be killed by someone else living.  Have to wait and see on that one.

"Comic Rick" is a bit more of a badarse than he is in the show.  But with that quickdraw he pulled last night... he is certainly no slouch.

Anyone else curious exactly how long summer is going to last?

Also seems to me the best bet would be to join up with existing groups and use the surrounding farms as outposts. Kinda like a midevil sort of way.
That way they can start cleaning out entire areas of walkers and also provide mutual support for one another.

I think you may have jumped the gun and spoiled it for a couple people. In the comic, they didn't find that out until after "The General". But considering Rick didn't shoot them in the head, it is likely they will come back.

Also in the comic, Rick doesn't start off as hard core as he ends up. I think last night was the start of it.

Oopsie...

Good point...

The nice thing about the show, is how much it deviates from the comic...  You never know how it's going to play out even if you have read the comic.

Sunday night's B4Buster .

Yeah, I know. I have to watch them Monday nights after work.

Pretty good episode. Rick is a quick gun. I knew those two were bad news one second into their conversation. And Lori  if she weren't good eye candy, I would hope for her to get bitten by a walker.

I doubt it.  Nothing adds drama better then a pregnant women going into labor at a really bad time, or a baby that won't stop crying when walkers are nearby.  Then you toss in the added bit that the baby might be Shane's, and he is clearly going around the bend.  Evidenced by the hand washing thing.

ok question.  Does a person have to "turn" into a walker while they are still alive?  Or for example, someone dies of natural causes, i.e. heart attack, and a walker takes a bite after they are dead, will he/she come back as a walker?

Another question.  Say someone gets bit bad enough that they will bleed out and die before they "turn".  If they die before they "turn" will they come back as a walker?

Ill give them one more episode to get off that dang farm, and if they dont, Im going to quit watching it. Now even a popsicle like Hershel can figure out he needs a couple of good guns around and they aint ever getting "off the farm".

They need to put two 50Cal's on top of the farm house and have fore 30Cal's mg one on each corner of the farm house . You know it's kind of funny we have not seen the first army vehicle down any where .

A couple episodes had plenty of mil vehicles shown including the tank Rick hid in when he met the others. It seems like they might want to swap out to some military style rifles though.

When Rick rode the horse into Atlanta.  When he rounded the corner and came upon the vZombies.  They took down his horse, he was able to get into an M1 Abrams tank.  That's when Glen called him on the radio and he made his first connection with the group.

No its "Englishtown Auction/flea market" in Englishtown. Just down the road from Raceway Park.

Didnt look too busy from the show. But in the summertime the place gets packed.

My buddies father actually made a pretty good living garbage picking during the week and then selling the junk there on the weekends.
Enough to pay for a split level house. Which in central NJ aint exactly cheap.

I used to love going over his house just to see his latest finds. Its amazing some of the things people throw out

Mil style rifles may be a bit overkill. And wouldnt it be harder to find ammo for them?

Wha they need to do is get hold of some midevil knights armor. then they can go where they like and not have to worry about getting bit LMAO

I'd think that finding 223 / 5.56 ammo would be pretty darn easy given it's popularity and availability now. It's also pretty darn easy to carry since it weighs less than 30-30 and shotgun shells. There were plenty of rifles laying around in the hospital and in Atlanta around that tank scene.

Need to find some .22LR pistols that are supressed.  A .22LR is plenty to scramble a zombie's brain.  Much quieter and you can definitely carry a lot of ammo.

My guess, if the show lasts a few seasons but starts to fade, they may introduce a story line involving how it all started to reinvigorate ratings.  Just my guess though.

The news reports in the background speak of an illness that was spreading rapidly in the population. Burning of dead bodies in the streets etc. It's a sickness that must have infected large parts of the population overwhelming the emergency services and later the military. That it's a bug was all but confirmed by the scientist in the season 1 finale.

Maybe not, but that's the info we got. Exactly where the bug came from is not likely to be revealed anytime soon, if at all. All the people who would know are probably already dead (or undead).

The Zombie Survival Guide, which I have on my Kindle) states that is a virus named Solanum.  :D

Other sources say that it is a Human Vampiric Virus from the Mononegavirales family of viruses which is propagated mainly through ticks of the family Ixodidae  :aok

However, neither has been mentioned in this series    :(

Ya, I think there's a good chance that Rick and Shane will have that final confrontation and it will be Carl that resolves it with a bullet to Shane's head.

Ya, the only way I could see Carl doing it though is if Shane and Rick have gotten into a fight and Carl either has to kill Shane or watch Shane kill Rick.

I gotta admit, when they give you a zombie scene after withholding them for a while, they make up for it.

The one trying to get into the car was great, tonight.

How about Lori pulling Ricks strings to convince him to kill Shane. Dammm!

I'd say its reaching a point where there is no other choice for her. Shane at this point has completely lost it and his obsession over her can only lead to him trying to kill Rick.

Noticed we dont know a whole lot about the backgrounds of either Hershal or Dale. But until this episode. Neither has killed anyone or any walkers. Both have been hesitant to do so.
Hershals saying he "Knows how to shoot but doesnt like to." May be telling.

I'm thinking in Both Hershals and Dales cases maybe former Vietnam and Korea combat vets.
Any event In Hershals case I think with that statement he is suggesting that he has killed before. And not just sick horses either.

I was thinking the same thing about Herschel.  Theres definitely something there.  As for Dale, he's not really helping matters either IMO.  Yeah Shane needs to be checked, but with all his poking around in other peoples buisness, hes lucky Shane didnt take him out during their little chat in the woods.

Im worried about daryl going squirrelly, both figuratively and literally. Every zombie survival group needs its redneck squirrel bowhunter. Thats a fact. Now all he does is hang around his dead hanging squirrels and pout. He needs a woman to pull him out of this one and I think its going to be Carol. She's the only one available, the rest are either banging somone or catatonic. Besides she has experience with trailer park guys, tho daryl is Fred Astair compared to that Lout she was married to before. The way she's hovering around him she could be the 13'th squirrel hanging from his tree.

I'd say Herschel will be voting Pro-gun for the rest of his life.

Saw a clip from Talking Dead about the upcoming Shane and Rick confrontation. It looks like Rick is losing the fight but Shane ends up losing the war as he's being chased by several walkers and not getting away. Of course it is "out of context" and no guaranty that Shane gets chomped but it's pretty obvious that it's coming to a head and one or the other has to go. I am going to assume hat it's going to be the final episode and a cliff hanger at that. Probably Shane running or hobbling from walkers and the screen goes to black as Rick scurries away in the other direction. This having the cliff hanger end the season or half season is getting tedious though.

I was surprised at the impalement scene. If they were planning on taking the leg off anyhow, why not just yank it off the hook like they did in the first place then run for the jeep. (those do unscrew anyhow) They could slap a tourniquet on it while driving. What the heck, other than using the axe they had no time for anything else.

Damn close for me, if not my favorite.

It has been many years since I've been this interested in television, of ANY kind, to a point where I will actually systematically block off the time in my schedule to watch it.  By this I mean actually watch it, when scheduled, not DVR, etc.

Last time might have been The Dukes of Hazzard  :D

I used to watch Top Shot regularly for the first 2 seasons, but it has gotten to where its more drama MTV crap than about actual shooting.  I'll start watching it in the last few episodes when its down to about 4 people.
Now I am a huge fan of Justified.  My Tuesday nights consist of me putting off homework and watching last weeks episode and the new one for the week.  Im getting the same way with the Walking Dead.  I didnt watch season 1, and I regret it now.  I want to get netflix just for that reason.

When my oldest daughter expressed an interest in watching it with me, she also had missed almost the entire first season.  I just bought a copy of Season 1 on Amazon, was pretty inexpensive really.  Think I paid less then $20, but I am an Amazon Prime member, so your price may be a bit higher.

Good episode!

I like how they are giving Shane a chance for redemption, it'll make his final flip out that much better when we get to the season finale.  This episode also strengthened the Rick character quite a bit, he is taking the lead as top badass in the group, but still has the weight of his decisions on his shoulders.  Unlike Shane, who can easily justify anything.

Funny you should say that!   :rofl  When tonight's episode started with the zombies trying to get Shane on the bus, my oldest daughter (who is the only family member who will watch it with me) was on the very edge of her seat.  When they went to the opening credits, I got up and opened the gun cabinet (which is in my man cave) and handed her a Stoeger 12 guage Coach gun (short double barrel shot gun).  She clutched that gun through the entire episode!  I so wish I had a picture!

Mom, there is a second showing in just a little bit then the Talking Dead show.

I think The episode had a couple twists. At first it seemed like shane was going to get his head straight and settle down then the fight started and he did that you can't keep them safe bit. I frankly figured it might be his last show tonight. That was a pretty good fight.

I'm not sure if the new kid is going to make it or not. The preview hinted strongly that he's going to get killed but then they like to play games with the previews too. I don't trust his character at all. It looks like he's a bit slimy but his leg sure healed up pretty well. I think he's a bit of a snake and they might be better off if he were to stop breathing.

I hope they slow the soap opera crap down more. This getting into the women infighting is getting tedious. The "as the world turns crap really pulls the show down. There are other things to focus on besides the soap suds.

You have to figure that a lot of these issues that they touch upon would surface if this were a real situation, even if they seem a bit soapy.

Exactly. You cant have the entire show be nothing but killing zombies and looking for food. For one it would get boring as hell. For the second. Is exactly how you say. All kinds of twist turns power struggles and soap opera type stuff would take place considering the whole world is turned upside down.

My daughter and I were discussing the bus. Couple things he could have done even without Rick.
Offed them one by one just as he did the first two.
Secondly he could have let them in escaping out the back as he did only delaying long enough for them to all get in the bus before jumping out the back and slamming the door shut behind him. Considering there isnt much room between the two seats for more then one person at a time it would have taken a while for them to get turned around and back out the front.

One thing Im curious about. Inasmuch as the walkers dont seem to be the speediest of creaures. Seems they can trot but not outright run. Why is it so hard to simply sprint away from them?

Hell even I can run faster then that. LOL

I thought his knife got stuck in the second one and he lost it?  Could be wrong.  I was kinda tired.

In either case, I was pretty sure he wasn't leaving him for good.  I like the kid driving with his neck duct taped to the seat, though  :devil

As far as the running, they aren't fast, but I would imagine they have unlimited stamina.  A bit like the tortoise and the hare scenario...

I thought Rick was going to leave Shane, and we were to assume he died. Only for him to show up a couple of episodes later and create drama with the group or show up as a leader of a rival group.

I am still waiting for Daryl's long lost brother to show up as an antagonist (The General?)

It seemed like last night's episode opened up the transmission of the disease window pretty wide. In several of the earlier shows the survivors were more than a little contaminated by walker juice. When you have the stuff all over you, how the heck are you going to avoid getting the "bug".

I think the knife to the head bit is a bit over done. Unless the skull is somehow turned to wet cardboard, punching through the forehead with a folding pocket knife is gonna be rather difficult. IN order to save ammo they need tom larger bladed weapons. A nice sword would be far better for dispatching the solo walker at far less hazard to the survivor. Even if you don't have a head shot right away, take an arm and or a leg off and slow the bugger down.

I did like the "speed bump" zombie. Seems a couple decent moderate sized trucks could reduce the zombie count in a fast and safe manner. Squish them and go back with an axe or sword to finish the less squashed ones.

I was waiting for Shane to be bitten on the hand when he was stabbing zombies in the head. We were talking about this at work and came up with some theories.

Could it be that the virus has mutated? In order for it to spread so fast initially, maybe any any contact (sweat, spit, blood) and you were infected. Then it went to saliva only. That would make more sense on how soldiers/police got infected via blood splatter. Or maybe the virus can only survive in the skull so that's why bites are infectuous since the virus leaks into the mouth cavity.

It would be a kicker if they found out that the virus can no longer be transmitted, and all they had to worry about was being attacked.

Or bites from rotting & decaying people only kill you, and everyone already has the virus. It just takes over the mind when you die.  :noid

More likely a very small part of the population was partially immune to the virus and was able to resist the initial outbreak. However a bite from a rotting walker carries more than just the zombie virus and like a Comodo Dragon, a lot more bugs and pathogens that combined overwhelms the bitten's immune system leading to death and zombification.

I think they are teeing up the big confrontation with the other group of survivors, probably the event that finally drives them all off of the farm in two episodes.

Yep that was one of the cattle. The walker was the one the kid was taunting earlier at the creek. It looks like the stranger makes at least 3 episodes. He sure healed up pretty darn fast for having stuck a fence post through his leg. I'm not sure but I think I'll miss Dale.

Episodes like tonights are important to develop the characters.  In this case, the group was right on the edge of becoming the do whatever it takes no matter what type...  Now, with the old guys death, they will make the choice to try and do what they perceive is right from now on instead of the easier path of doing whatever they want to survive.

This is going to be the wedge that drives Shane even farther over the edge.  The group was teetering, about to go down the road that Shane wants.  Now they will go back to Rick's path, alienating Shane even more.  Even Andria will be against him now, since she sided with Dale.

Carl's behavior was totally out of character. Yes many young boys go through that morbid stage of throwing rocks at helpless creatures, but he didnt seem like the type. Stealing the gun etc. Poorly done there.

Poor old Dale. I think he was defending his memory of how life was, and how he wanted it back, more than the kid in the barn. I never read the comic, and dont want to know, but I cant see a happy ending.

I had gotten sick of Dale and his righteous sniveling. I guess he held some value as a pair of eyes on top of the RV but thats about it.

I say waterboard the little rat they caught and then pull a Seal Team 6 on that nest of scum bags. They are running around raping woman, forcing their own fathers to watch, and must be taken out. They are far more dangerous then the zombies. Now with Pope Dale IV flower mulch they might find the guts to do what they have to do. Even the little kid learned the #2 basic rule of firearms, to never point one at someone unless you intend to use it.

I thought it was fairly in character. He has been becoming more morbid this season, and since season 1 he has wanted to help and be considered one of the men (like any young boy would want). He wants them to see that he can do grown up things, yet the adults want him to maintain his childlike innocence.

I know how the season finale will unveil.

Black helicopters swoop down in the admist of a full on zombie invasion of the farmhouse and napalm them to the ground.  The farmhouse catches fire and the people have to run away when the 30 man group shows up and takes them prisoner.

Season 3 will be The Walking Dead : The Zombie Escape.

Yea. I think this is going t be rather devastating to Andria. While his concern for her she found annoying. it was not at all dissimilar to that of a teen wanting their overbearing parent to leave them alone. She is going to realize just how much he meant to her and start being more like Dale was trying to be. the voice of reason and humanity in a world gone insane

Carl has definitely been going through some dark times emotionally and mentally. Not hard to understand considering the one person his own age he could relate to became a walker and they had to kill. and given the world circumstance. Gotta be some heavy stuff for a kid his age to deal with.

Naa cow just wasnt dead yet. Kinda like the line from Jurrassic part "point is. when they start eating you. Your still alive."
The cow was groaning in agony

I doubt very much we will be seeing Cow walkers chasing them down trying ot eat them.

That being said. Anyone else notice the lack of dogs/cats?

Cats in particular inasmuch is it doesnt take much to spook them to begin with and they can easily climb out of reach of the walkers

All they need to do is get on the porch roof and club em as they go by.

It's very simple. If you die, you become a zombie. Period.
Title: Re: Walking Dead Resumes tonight
Post by: Maverick on March 11, 2012, 11:47:11 PM
There are a couple things that could lead to contamination. They have all had zombie juice on them at one time or another. The kid, Randal, was stuck in the barn where the walkers were kept. Probably plenty of zombie "stuff" in there and he was working the cuffs enough to create open wounds. Shame used the knife he stuck the zombie guard with to cut his own hand in the bus last week. Plenty of time to get the bug inside.

I think this is the end of the farm though. Hershel set the stage for it when he mentioned the swamp was drying up and the cattle herd was getting thinned out. The icing on it was Rick telling everyone to get the cars up to the house and all facing away from the house. No backing up, just get in start them and head out. I figure they will have another migration after the house gets overrun by the herd of walkers they ended the episode tonight with.

The only problem is the camp. Randal said they were about 5 miles away on the highway so there is the possibility that they could run into the other group.

I figure out that from now on they have to shoot everyone that dies in the head. You might not turn into a zombie until you die but it sure looks like you do go zombie.

At the rate they are losing characters, its a good thing there is only 1 more episode this season.

I blame Rick's wife for being a CTing HO again. Got Shane all riled up. Was a cool scene though on that hill against the moon.

I think it is has become an airborne plague that when you die, you rise, OR you are bitten.  Many of the books in the genre discuss just that.  World War Z is exactly that way.

My bet is this is just a tie in so they can pimp for money when WWZ goes live.

Either way, I am glad Shane is gone.  It clears a storyline that received far too much attention and in reality, my wife agrees.  She says no effing way would she hop into the bed of my partner especially with all the hell on earth.  It just made little sense.  Have to write a story I guess.

I do enjoy the series, but I fear it is getting into too much drama and too little reality of the situation.  Times a ticking, and these people have done little to look at real long term survival questions.  That alone is something that begs to be talked about.

I saw they did, but only if you missed the premiere-- they had the whole thing up for a while, but I checked today and it's down now. The only reason is because we don't even have cable :lol So I have to go to my friend's place to watch it :(

You dont have to get bitten to turn... you just have to die.  Been that way in the comic all along.  They just found that out last night in the series.

Nice tie in with the books with Carl killing "zombie" Shane.

Me and my kids were yelling at the TV screen last night while watching it.  Been a long time since we have all watched TV together and all liked what we were watching.

Kinda odd... But the Walking Dead makes for a good family TV night  :rofl

Hey, thanks :)

No problem, if it weren't for those I'd have to pay $135 a month to my cable provider to watch 'New' Top Gear episodes that are always at least year old, sometimes 3 series old but not yet shown by BBC America.

ps.
History Channel's 'Top Gear', the one with Tanner Faust, the fat guy and the guido has absolutely nothing to offer in terms of good television.  It's the worst remake of anything that I've ever seen, and completely unoriginal aside from testing Pickups that aren't stupid, as well as completely not entertaining in all ways.

My cable box died last night and on all the forums I hang out on people were talking about last nights episode so, try as I did to avoid it, I found out about Rick killing Shane.  Good riddance imo.  Now I don't hope Ricks wife gets eaten or dies but she's got a lot of making up to do.  She should start by keeping closer eye on her son.

Next weeks going to rock.

Fortunately I have ways of seeing episodes I missed :D

I think not.

Yeah and I think that just put Rick in the same boat as of a Scum Bag . He just flat out murdered the guy . Shane was not going to shoot Rick and when he was thinking about it while Rick was handing his gun over was a low down trick that makes him Scum being on better than the guy he just killed .Typical cop for ya , lol j/k .

The big question is how did Shane get infected and why did it take so long to sicken him? The easy answer is the kid bit him, but, how did the kid get infected?

And now? Zombie city is upon them. Now they could use those 30 Lunatics on their side. Its nice to see the kid starting to shoot straight. I got a feeling he's going to be burning a lot of ammo in his life.

Well, since the cat has been let out of the bag, already.

Keeping in line with the comic book, everyone that dies becomes a walker, as long as the brain is still intact.  Even if you had no bites or scratches from a walker.

Yes.

They haven't even touched upon "The Governor"  who is Rick's "true" antagonist from the comics and not Shane, since he only lasted for 6 issues, originally.

Looks like David Morrissey has been cast to play that character  :x
Title: Re: Walking Dead Resumes tonight
Post by: Raptor on March 13, 2012, 09:39:26 AM
So much for Merle being the Governor. They are doing a good job of keeping this show from being too predictable (I thought T-Dawg was next in line to die because he hasn't had much of a part in season 2, didn't expect it to be Dale).
Title: Re: Walking Dead Resumes tonight

I thought T-Dawg was next in line to die because he hasn't had much of a part in season 2, didn't expect it to be Dale.

Nah, they still have Merle floating around out there somewhere.  They have to keep T-Dawg around for Merle's eventual return.  I think that they are probably going to develop the Daryl (Darrel sp?) character more before we see a return of Merle.

Here's how I see it going down.  Daryl will continue to become more and more important with the group now that Shane is gone.  Just when you think that he is finally a full participating member of the group, instead of the useful outsider he is now, we will see the return of Merle.

Then we'll have new conflicts.  Merle and T-Dawg, for obvious reasons.  Although it wouldn't surprise me if the first time we Merle again is right after somebody puts a bullet in the back of T-Dawg's head, Merle then steps out of the shadows with a smoking gun.  T-Dawg quite possibly will die when Merle returns, one way or another, but probably by getting chained by Merle somewhere where zombies can get him.  Merle and Daryl, as Daryl tries to get Merle to see that the group is good and that his standing with the group is not a betrayal of Merle.  And...  Daryl and Daryl as he wrestles with how he fits with the group and what his relationship is with his brother, where his true loyalties lie.

No matter how it happens, for some reason, the group will need something from Merle when they see him again.  Bank on that.

So, the big zombie battle is coming with tomorrow evening's season finale episode.

Shall we speculate on which of the 13 remaining characters on the farm are going to die?

I'm thinking the blonde girl (Maggie's sister), the farm boy who has barely had any screen time, Otis' wife, and maybe Herschel.  Herschel could go either way.  On the previews for the episode they have been playing that clip where Herschel says it's his farm and he's going to die there, but I can see Rick talking him into leaving with them when they escape the farm because of the baby.

You mean Rick's son Carl?  Highly unlikely, Carl is a big part of the comic I'm told.

If the writers have a sense of humor they'll have anyone who is going to die in the episode wearing a red shirt.

I think we will find out what Fenner said to Rick in S1 at the CDC in the S2 finale.  I am thinking that everyone has already been exposed to whatever is causing the dead to return to life from some airborne virus or something. What was with all the flashes of visions during the killing of Shane?  Was that Shane dying and the virus already starting to take control of his brain?  Anyways, cannot wait until tomorrow to find out.

I'm betting that pretty much the entire core group will remain in tact.   They'll lose Otis' wife, the suicidal girl, and the son that has seen almost no airtime.

I predict that Carol will be cornered by zombies and saved by Daryl.  Herschel will agree to leave the farm after Rick tells him that they need him for the baby.

Glimpses of the preview have me thinking that Glen and Maggie are going to be in Dale's RV doing the nasty when it all goes down tonight.

For sure.

I dunno... I'd guess they'd be in there and a zombie walks in... caught with their pants down, literally :D

son that has seen almost no airtime.
Herschel's kid?

Herschel's kid?

In the previews they show glimpses of somebody trapped in the RV, I think it was Glen.  Just speculating that Maggie will be with him.

I don't think the boy is Herschel's kid, but I think I recall him telling Rick that "he wasn't his son but he is responsible for him" in one of the episodes shortly after they arrived at the farm.

EDIT to add:  Just saw in the episode showing now that the other young guys name is Jimmy and he and Suicide girl dated for three months and are married.

I'm still pretty sure that they aren't done with Andrea's story yet, but I'm prepared to be wrong on that score.

Same, but even Shane doesn't bug me too much-- except for the TS-19 episode when they're stuck in the CDC building or whatever that is. He got a tad whiney.

I think it was either Rick thinking about walkers eating Shane's body, or, Maybe hallucinations of Shane's before he turned.  Remember in season 1 when they were trying to get the infected guy to the CDC but he didnt make it?  He was having similar flashes before he died.  Coincidence?  :noid

HA!  It sure was good, I lost count of how many they took out.  I wonder how long it will take the group to find the ammo in the Hyundai that Shane hid with the spare tire.   Now the prison, I wonder if that is where Randall's group is hiding out?  Season 3 hurry up already !!

That hadn't occured to me.  Not sure though.  When they stopped because they were short on fuel, Rick said they had been driving for an hour on red.  That leads me to think they may have covered quite a few miles.  However, you have to think that Andrea and the new character, Michone, will eventually connect back up with the group.  So, maybe it wasn't a huge distance.

Of course, television writers are notorious for making odd leaps in the interest of steering the story they way they want it to go.

The ninja bit was a surprise. I think the armless zombie pet bit was pretty silly. Ok you took their arm off. How is that going to stop them from biting you? On the other hand (pun intended) dragging two armless zombies around is not doing anything to make your survival chances better. Yeah eye candy but simply stupid.

She Cuts the arms and Jaws off of them!

Michonne first appeared on the road at an unknown distance away from The Prison Clothed under a hood, she pulled the shackled zombies of her boyfriend and his best friend along by chain to act as a deterrent to the undead. She cut off their arms and lower jaws so that they wouldn't attack her.

Jebus beat me to it, but watch again and take a better look at her "pets"  :D

It helps mask her scent, much like when Glen and Rick slimed themselves with zombie guts in Atlanta when they were stuck in the building  :rock

Reading the comics will help understand a lot.   It is not necessary to do so to enjoy the show, but you get more understanding.  By the same token, the show throws enough surprises at the viewer that having read the comic does not spoil the experience  :aok

Thanks a lot for the info there. I would not have thought of that aspect.  :aok

I suppose I am interested enough to start to look for the comics. Gads, it's been over 45 years since I bought or read a comic book..... :old:

I mentioned the comic books to the wife. She used to be in the book business and she asked me this question. Are the walking dead comics comic books (pulp paper) or "comic novels" (slick paper comics)? Hell I have no idea anymore where to even look for the darn things. :huh

The answer is essentialy both. The stories are released first as standard comic issues, although pulp paper is no longer used. Later, multiple issues are combined into graphic novels, reffered to as "trade paperbacks". For "The Walking Dead" these are arround 150 pages each and cost $8-$10 each depending on where you find them. Currently 16 trade paperbacks have been released, and the timeline of the show puts them at the end of the second paperback. There are also larger formats containing more issues per book for some exrea value, but I buy the trade paperbacks as these seem to do a better job of containing story arcs into single books.

The series resumes with season 3 beginning in the fall. I guess I'll search around for more info the ninja chick. Couldn't quite tell if that was a prison , or a city in the background at the end. I guess I know now. I caught the marathon that was on sunday to recap the events as they unfolded.

3rd episode from the finally the character Lori, was explaining to Rick. How dangerous Shane, had become and all but implied whack him before he does the same. Then with the eye and detachment has he admitted how it went down. Hey I'm glad she remembered she had a kid when the zombie horde attacked. All in all I thought the finale could've gone different in places but that's why we enjoy discussing the events afterwards.

The prison is where the "governor" has his base of operations?

I've not read the books, only bits and pieces in other forums.  I also have not seen the entire series yet, just the last 3-4 episodes and some YT vids on the early  episodes.

Yep, Lori annoyed me last episode. I wouldn't mind seeing her and Carl turn into walker bait, that way Rick really wouldn't have anything to lose, and there would be even more zombie action. It'll never happen though.   :(
