I thought I might see some A's fans out there. They have put together a team that rivals some of their previous championship teams.......with one difference------->Moneyball in progress. The talking heads at ESPN showed the world once again, they know absolutely nothing about baseball.......picking the Nats or Dodgers to win it all......I don't think so.

Well nefarious I guess this is a fantasy post so I will do the same... The Atlanta Braves win in the bottom of the 9th in the final of a tied series and I take my wife, Roseanne Barr, out for a romantic dinner at McDonald's.

It's a whole new blue! Dodgers gonna win it this year. I've been puttin off buyin a new cap til they won another WS and this is the year it's happenin! :rock My current Dodgers cap goes back to the 80s. It's in decent shape but it's got that well worn look.
But Drano--you live in the middle of Phillies country--WTF? :huh
Well--when I was a kid the Phils were off the scale horrible. Horrible like lost a hundred games and had their owner manage the team horrible in those late 60s early 70s. When I was maybe 6 or 7, I decided they sucked enough that I needed a new team. I adopted the Dodgers and been with em ever since. They got good with some homegrown players and got whooped on by the A's in the WS but I liked the players they had. Oh the Phils got a little better in the 70s with some great players brought up from the farm, but when they did my boys were right there to slap em back down. They got a little payback in '83 but then that was really the Phillies/Reds geezers vs the geezers from LA. Both teams were past prime and the O's took care of the Phils in the WS that year anyway. When Joe Carter hit the homer off Mitch in what was it '93-- I was LMAO!
Always followed the Phils tho. They've done some stuff over the years that has truely left me shakin my head (Von "5 for 1" Hayes)(Ryne Sandberg to the Cubs--yeah, he'll never amount to anything). I truely miss listening to the games called by Harry and Whitey. Those guys will be forever part of the soundtrack of my life. I was glad that Harry got to call one more WS win for the Phils before he passed. I will say this--if I had to pick a starting third baseman, Schmidt would be my guy. If I needed to pick a left handed starter, Carlton would be it. Two of my all time favorite players and at the same time hated enemies. Those guys rocked it. :salute

We tried including the rest of the world, but everyone got tired of getting their butts kicked every time by the US, Cuba and Japan, so they pissed and moaned at the IOC about it until baseball was removed as an Olympic event. :P

We should have let them win a few times, like in basketball.

That, and softball as well since they are linked events that you cannot have one without the other. USA had only 1 run scored on them one Olympics if I remember correctly

Fox has the WS this year.
You'll see the A's win in six.
Better place your bet early. ;)
Dates: October 23 – October 31. Television: Fox ... The 2013 World Series will be the 109th edition of Major League Baseball's championship series.
-
I think it's hilarious trying to pick the World Series winner in the second week of the season.
The only certainty this time of year is that it's already over for the Cubbies and Phillies fans remain the most colossal @#$-holes in sports.

Went to the Phillies game on Tuesday vs Mets....had a great time. 3 homers (almost) back to back...stadium was insane!! Phils won

same case for softball. The US team won gold at three of the four Olympics it was played at with Japan winning in 2008.
That, and softball as well since they are linked events that you cannot have one without the other. USA had only 1 run scored on them one Olympics if I remember correctly
Yup, 2004 Olympics and it was Australia in the championship game. They out scored all teams 51-1 that year.
And during the 08 Olympics they had out scored their opponents 57-2 going into the championship game when they lost 3-1 against Japan.
Softball was the one sport I always followed since my dad is a college coach and my sister was a hall of fame pitcher.
As for the World Series, Pirates 6-4 in 7th game, opponent unknown.
-
If the Pirates got in, and stranger things have happened, A's would sweep.
:D
A's leading MLB with homers, team era one of the best in baseball.
