IL-2
« on: September 22, 2008, 08:31:22 PM »
Was the 250 kilo bomb option eliminated? I see no reference to it being removed in the update notes. My initial thought was that it might not be available with the 37mm option... However, it's no longer optional for any ordnance configuration.

Thanks,

Widewing

Never flew IL-2s much, nor did I check in game yet to see if it is eliminated.  However, I'd be somewhat angry if the plane of my choice for the most part had ordnance taken away.  Especially with a 250kg bomb... enough to kill a Panzer.  Now if it was a 100 pound bomb... I wouldn't care so much as hardly anything in the game can be taken down with one hit of a 100 pound bomb... gun emplacements only?

I know that the IL-2 type 3 (our standard 23mm armed version) could be fitted with 600 kilos of ordnance. The added weight of the 37mm NS-37 cannons may have reduced that, so I'm wondering if it was a deliberate decision or just an oversight as there was no mention in the update notes. I can kill Panzers well enough by dropping a pair of 100 kilo bombs (4 can be loaded), so it's not a hardship. I'm simply curious.

we don't even really know what IL2 version we have actually...I know its late war but still.

I think the 250kg got bailed to equilibrate the power balance.

good read on the IL2

You mean you lost a few tigers to 10x100 pound bombs each?

I've put 4k on a tiger, dead on and it doesn't go down.

I really like the IL2 gun site and the bottom of the triangle is good for dive bombing.

I'm absolutely Gaaa-Gaaa on the new IL2. Not only is it a fabulous piece of work by the HiTech staff but the 37mms and bomb load brings a new dimension to the game. It evens out the GV action and enhances the tactical envirement greatly. I find the introduction of the wirbel, the T34/85, and now the 37mm IL2, to have brought the game to an entirely new level. The game has taken a big step up. :aok
