Does it do anything useful? Win7 is soon out anyways.
Mostly bug fixes (nearly 700 of them!), and a few trivial new features most people won't care about, such as:
- native Blu-Ray disc burning
- Bluetooth 2.1, which supports a better pairing system
- WiFi works correctly after Sleep and Resume
- Windows Search 4.0 (a Google Desktop Search-like program. It's been available as a separate download for Vista and XP since last June)
I was just paid a few thousand dollars to write an 8-page feature about SP2. Let me tell you, it should only have been 5 pages at the most, or a very tight 3 pages. How I eked out 5600 words is really beyond me. On the other hand, it's shameless padding like this that let's me afford to go to The Con. ;-)
SP2 is really just a maintenance update - a way to package hundreds of hotfixes at once. If you're looking for new features, then you're looking for a new version of Windows, which in this case is Windows 7.
