Very low FPS at start up
« on: September 23, 2009, 06:57:01 PM »
When ever I start up the game, it sit at about 5 FPS for a good 30 seconds. It's been happening for a while now and I just blamed it on my graphics card, but I just upgraded my card today. Still getting the same problem, but when I'm flying I'm pegged at 60FPS

That symptom is normally related to how long it takes to load everything into memory from the hard drive and across the Internet.  Does the same thing happen when you go offline?  A DXDIAG output would be most helpful.

This has been normal for me for almost all the time I've been flying here using different rigs and video cards.  I've used Nvidia SLI and ATI Crossfire vid setups and always low initial FPS but for only a minute or so and then I've always maxed out at my monitor's refresh rate of 60 (with VSYNC enabled, except with the 2.14 versions and above with VSYNC on application preference, which enables it to the ON position).  I don't think you have a problem at all.

All the Best...

Yes it happens offline also but its not as bad, I think there is something wrong with my graphics card also because my computer has been locking up a lot since I installed it.

Once the low FPS goes away I'm pegged at 60FPS running full detail slider 1280x1024 rez hirez skins and detail terrain and water.
