X-mass computers
« on: December 14, 2009, 10:50:15 AM »
I'm looking for computer suggestions this x-mass season.  The basic idea is:  post your ideal system for $500.00  one for $1000.00  and for geeks the ultimate system.  List towers only, no monitors.  List where we can buy it before x-mass and why this system makes the most of the Aces High program.

Well in the $1000 category, I'd take a look at TilDeath's Mage system.  http://tdcomputersystems.com/systems/the-mage/prod_98.html  A good system with the best customer support you can ask for.  It runs not only AH very well for me, but my many other games as well.  (Fallout 3, Empire: Total War, Bioshock to name a few)  :rock

Well now instead of fixing my old gamer I'm building a new setup.

Just about complete... as soon as newegg delivers my copies of Win7.

I've been an AMD guy for quite a few years but right now Intel has the heat. So I got . . .

i5-750 processor

GIGABYTE P55A-UD3

Four 2 gig DDR3 Corsair ram (for total of 8 gig) << has its own heatsinks  :lol

Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1000 Watt Power Supply

I threw all this into a Cooler Master  HAF 922

The case has two 200mm fans and one 120mm, I added another 200mm fan on the cover.

I'll be adding my four 1 TB drives from my old machine. Also my HD Radeon 4850. Dvd burner and SB sound card.

I went shopping with the wife and stopped by Frys Electronics..... I was looking and she said Merry Chritmas.

Woot... what a gal.

I spent just over $400 for the new parts and case.

$500.00 - Don't bother

$1000.00 - Can go with Druski's suggestion

Ultimate system? - Call TD and ask him what he can do for ya in the 5 or 6 thousand dollar range. Then order 2 of them, cuz I want one.  :lol

Didn't read that, will probably play Crysis 5 times over but won't play AH!

Kidding, should play it fine!!

$10,500 for a single computer?  :huh   :uhoh  No friggin way. If I had that much money to burn in one shot, I sure wouldn't be playing AH...I'd be flying something real.

You can find that case still on FrozenCPU and other sites.   It's about $375-$400.   It is a full Tower and Welded Aluminum.

Thats a nice case, i like to have 1 of those.
I have a cheaper coolermaster case and have had to deal with thier support dept. I bought the case, it was a closeout and when delivered was missing the HD slide rails ( whatever call them) I called them, they were in my mailbox in 3 days. Another instance I had was my daughter stepped on the flash drive i forgot and left in(my fault), broke the usb  connector on the case, I called explained and wanted to buy a replacement, they sent me one for free.Mabe I just was lucky and talked to the right person, I don't know.

I was thinking like this?

I can get you a better deal at ibuypower then what they are showing.  I build there custom systems.  Oddly enough, the owers of ibuypower also own NZXT and a few other computer companies.
