The Brits were the ones that really put the Jeep to great use, if you haven't seen these I would like to introduce you to the British SAS Jeeps. Nothin but combat for these guys! These were used for hit and run tactics in Africa and saw some use in Belgium I believe. Harassing German forces and dragging around small howitzers. Using those tactics a small force of well trained SAS men could harass much larger forces keeping them busy. Double Vickers for the passenger, one for the driver, loaded down with ammo and gas, and they removed anything that was considered dead weight (like most of the grill) Oh, and btw.. the Navy Jeeps were used in combat. Often they would be deployed to be used as spotting units for artillery or forward scouts with the landing forces.

USN jeep on the Enterprise during combat action. US Navy jeeps were painted in 3 different colors - Navy Gray
- Forest Green
- Navy Blue
Navy gray paint scheme was used on jeeps, trucks and other tactical vehicles. Forest Green paint scheme was used on USMC jeeps. Navy blue was used on staff and administrative vehicles. ack-ack

When it's all said & done how many jeeps can you prove were in combat? Most I would say were not it may get a little questionable if you tried to pass this one off. <Quoted Image Removed> I guess you could argue that it did see service Just not combat service. Hmmm, how many jeeps were attacked by aircraft or artillery or even tanks?? I suppose that could count as combat service...since roughly 640,000 of them were produced during the war, I think "squadron" service can be safely established

Just that we do have people that want proof beyond any doubt that a vehicle was in a combat or it's not acceptable.
