I only fly P38s flyboy, and I'm sure that people are tired of hearing that from me.    old

I would like to find a recording of an actual P38 starting up, and its engines running in flight to use.
Does anyone have these two sounds?
I've looked on the net but haven't found anything. Maybe I'm using the wrong search parameters?
I would appreciate any help in finding these two sounds.
I'm not looking to make a sound pack, I would just like to have the real sounds for ingame use.    old

+1. I like TB's better supercharger sound for the 38 Alisons best.

Yes, I'm using the default sounds.
About a year ago I did try someone's sound pack. Don't remeber whose. I didn't care for the 20mm gun and 50 cal sounds, both sounded kind of "tinny" to me, no "thud" from the 20mm and the 50 cal sounded too fast. so I went back to the default.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try Twinbooms sound pack.    old

Does your sounds folder now contain a separate folder for each plane/gv etc? That's how it should look. If you just put the zipped file in there it won't work. You'll have to unzip it TO the sounds folder.

How it works is the game will look for different sounds first and if it finds a folder with sounds in it for that plane/vehicle it'll use those. If not it'll use the stock game sounds.

Once you get how to get the sounds in the game, I'd suggest downloading all the sound packs and mix them to get the exact sounds you want. The sound options are endless from then on. If you don't care for the landing gear sound in one pack, grab a different one from another pack....same with gun sounds, flaps, stall buzzer, check6s...etc.etc.

Just remember to save your sound settings in a separate file after you get everything just the way you like.  old

Go to AcesHigh sound file. Cut and paste default P-38 sounds to another place such as "downloads" or "my documents". After you've extracted the American planes file, open it. Click on the P-38 model of your choice, copy and paste into AcesHigh sound file.

Now keep in mind that you can also open each individual sound folder and replace the guns, flaps, gear etc. sounds to tweak the custom sounds even more.
If you still have trouble with this hit me up in the MA and I'll walk you through the process step by step. I'll probably be logged in this evening. Good luck  salute

the file that I did manage to download as an RAR file and I can do nothing with it.

On page 21 of the stickied post by Twinboom, there are three links to the sound pack; mono, stereo and the link in his signature.
I have tried the sig and the stereo links and I can get to the site but when I try to download, I get stuck in a loop about installing their toolbar.
Downloader the toolbar app and my computer says its corrupt and can't use it. I can't get the file to download.
I would appreciate anyone who can email me the file so that I can use it.    old

rgr that Butch, i'll get TBs sounds emailed to you here in a minute.

Alright man, I sent them is a compressed zipped file. Unzip, open and insert the planes you want into your AcesHigh sounds file. This is just the American planes sounds. If this works and you want the others files i.e. British, German, Russian, Japanese....just holla. We'll get ya fixed up. Good luck  salute
