That's why.

Not entirely true. We have the VF-17 F4U-1 skin and VF-17 never flew birdcage corsairs in combat.
VF-17 received their 1A's August 1943, and started their combat tour September 1943. As far as I know (which isn't much) no Navy squadron flew -1 corsairs in combat.

You'd have to take that up with the person that skinned it. Sometimes new info comes to light after a skin is accepted, and sometimes a skin is pushed through intentionally knowing (and hiding the fact) that it's not correct, though the latter is much more rare. I can cite several examples of the former.

P.S. If you mean this one:

I'd ask Greebo about it. He may have an explanation

Seeing as I'm now a member of VF-17, and the birdcage hog is my favorite bird. I have probably said too much, Excuse me?!?! but yeah that's the one.

I don't believe FiFi carries nose art that represents any wartime B-29 combat or otherwise from WW2

What skins are Korean on the M4?

In regards to Fifi if a skinner took all the time to do that plane it would only be rejected by the staff of HTC for all the reasons listed.

Your plea needs to directed to HTC.

The thing is there are many skins that could be done that did see action in the war.

The way I look at it is like this. If we add a skin that did see combat, we(the AH community) in our own small way, pay homage to the men that fought and died on the battlefields of WWII.
