What kind of P-38 is that?

OK, not much to look at but i kept looking at the photo of a P-38.  There is something odd about it.  Go to 9:41

Sure u posted the right link? Never saw any p-38 and vid is only 9:40 long...so impossible to go to 9:41.

Yep think it's a droop snoot.  I imagine it's meant to suggest Stewart's character took some photos from the nose of one.  B24 pilots always making up stories :)

Yes droop snoot 38. Actually the bombsite is housed in there. This bird flew lead with other heavy 38s and when this bird dropped ords all birds dropped. Had a 2 man crew.

   I think HTC needs to model this plane,then the 80th would have a suitable place to stuff ole shuffler when he's fueled on hightest margaritas.I wouldnt trust Shuff's aimpoint tho,likely drop ords on corky's head! :devil

  I missed the bulletin in the SAPP forum,I thought for sure it was common knowledge that the SAPPERS do their best to cover for you when you've gone past your margarita limit!

 Last time I flew with you guys I had to turn off vox,shuff was like the kid in the back saying "are we there yet?" only it was can we RTB I need to refill my blender! :O

The picture in the movie is really distorted, but I'd have to say it is a Pathfinder P38. The nose looks solid from where I'm sitting but historically they tried to disguise them with different paint to make them look like normal P38s.

If you watch the movie on TV you have a better image.  Also,  you will see that photo well over two dozen times throu out the movie.
