This is my skin of Lt James Luma's 418 Squadron RCAF Mosquito Mk VI "Moonbeam McSwine". I've changed the kill markings into crosses to avoid the "no swastikas" rule.

James Luma travelled from his home in Montana to join the RCAF in July 1941. During 1943 and 44 he flew intruder sorties at night with 418 Squadron, attacking enemy aircraft over and on their airfields as they took off and landed. Luma shot down five enemy aircraft with 418; an Me210, an HE177, a FW190, a JU52, and a JU34 plus several more on the ground and was the only American to become an ace on the Mosquito. Later he joined the USAAF flying weather recon missions with the 802nd Reconnaissance Group. He survived the war having won both the British and American DFCs and then continued his flying career as a commercial pilot.

Not sure if you put the maple leaf emblem on the door or not, but a lot of modeling sites seem to say 418 Mossies should have it.  I haven't been able to verify that though due to the seeming interest by photographers to only shoot the port sides of the things.

Thanks guys, glad you like it.

I did the put the maple leaf on the skin. You can just see the edge of it on the open door in the photo.

Beautiful as always - sure to be a crowd pleaser.  Now I'll have to go look up "Moonbeam McSwine" as there is also a P-51 with that name.  Must've been a famous cartoon character of the day?

I think the cartoon was "Li'l Abner", a source for most of the nose art seen with 418.

Great job Greebo!

Just read about  lil'Abner's cast of characters in Wikipedia, and am stunned at the number of character names I recognized.  What a huge influence that comic strip was.

That's beautiful Greebo, pure art, thanks.

(Wasn't the only American ace on the Mossie, but that's beside the point.)

This skin has been sent to HTC, so it may be part of the next batch they look at for inclusion in the game.
