Don't know about track IR but I would get a decent stick myself first I have the Saitek X52 and I love it. 2 years old and worth the money I spent on it..

I would recommend the stick. I also have used the x52 a couple of years and man do i love it. Not to mention saitek (or madcatz) are excellent with customer service. When i did have issues with the stick (connection cord broke) i brought it to their local san diego office and walked out same day with a new setup.

Trackir is incredible, completely changs to feel of the game and adds a huge level of realism and the "woah im free to gaze everywhere". That being said it takes a crap ton of work to get used to. Ive had trackir5 about 2 months and with its bugginess and complexity its still very had for me to use effectively an often i turn it off :(

My recommendation, first saitek x52 (run u about 100 on ebay) then trackir5 (130 on ebay) with the proclip amother 30 or so.

Hope this helps

Thrustmaster HOTAS, sounds like a "relationship aid".

Dont know about the metal one, but the Cougar is a nasty cheap plastic pos, I would go CH

Thrustmaster Warthog all the way, Track IR meh, it didn't improve my SA as much as the Thrustmaster improved my flying.

Ty all for the feedback... And the winner is¿

         $500.00 Metal Thrustmaster Warthog!!!!

I think flying will be better for me without having too look at my keyboard for stuff and it is also the big purchase too get out of the way first means I wont save it for last aka never really get it.

Keep in mind the Thrusmaster has plastic in critical places. It feels stronger than it is. Handle it gently and it should last a while.

Check around before you buy it, I found it on BeachCamera for $400 and had a $50 mail in rebate for it, paid $350 for bran new thrustmaster, was able to buy CH Pro Pedals and Track IR 5 with the money saved :)

I had a Saitek X52 a few years back, couldn't stand the stupid thing. When moving the stick I got this groaning sound, drove me nutz. I tried everything to make it stop. Finally gave up and put it in the closet after a month or so. Don't know whatever happened to that piece of crap, probably one of the kids came over & stole it.  Went out and bought the whole CH set, been a happy camper ever since!!

I'm in the Track IR camp. It was transformational in how it adds to the realism and SA. The first time you move your head to see around the canopy framing to track a target instead of having to turn the plane you'll wonder how you ever flew without it. Also, Once you have a TRACKIR it frees up all of those view hat switches, so the need for a HOTAS with more stuff is reduced.   Although then you will never stop find more things to migrate from the keyboard to the Hotas, but it becomes more of a convenience than necessity. Good luck.  :salute
