VF-17's 2013 recruiting thread
« on: January 06, 2013, 06:28:49 PM »
http://thejollyrogers.net
 is the current correct site.

The VF-17 Jolly Rogers are recruiting pilots interested in US Naval Aviation.
New pilots and vets equally welcomed.
We do ask you be 18 or more years of age and have an account with HTC.
You are also required to have a sense of humor when joining

Squad Nights

Corsair training : Monday, 10:00pm Est

FSO Training :Thursday, 10:00 pm Est

FSO: Friday, 11:00 pm Est

Our primary focus aircraft is the F4U and it's variants, primarily the 1a. But we are happy to fly any US navy Iron. We train a lot in this squad, so if you are looking to up your game, love blue planes, and like to work as a team, we might be right for you.

We are also an active FSO squad, so being able to participate in FSO on a regular basis is required. We know things come up in real life, so we don't expect everyone to make every frame, but expect you to make it when you can.

New recruits, will probably be spending a lot of time with me or a fellow veteran to determine weaknesses in merge tactics and plane handling. We hold our F4U flying to high standards, and we'll do our best to bring you up to speed quickly.

As a squad we are always actively trying to improve, both individually and together as a team.  In the last two years, we've made great strides in both aspects.  So we expect any new recruits to try and hit as much practice time as possible (don't worry practices are normally fun and intense).

Trust us when we say anybody that has been with us for any length of time is proud to display the Jolly Roger

Thanks to all in VF-17 for bringing me on board.  Being a noob I was certainly nervous about joining a squad, but I have to say, if you are serious about wanting to learn the game, this is the squad for you.  The trainers are patient, the FSO's are intense and the members have made me feel right at home.  Training, Training, and more Training.... :rock   VF-17 is highly respected in the community, professional, fun and entertaining.  There is something here for the noobs and experienced sticks as well.  I have to say, I was in awe of the experience and talent of the flyers in this squad on my first FSO... It has been a great experience with them so far and I hope to be flying here for many years to come...   :airplane:

Wizard, that was very well-said. Good to have you aboard. Hope you didn't mind too much the distraction I caused you in your training session yesterday (remember: WHEELS DOWN when landing  :bolt:)

Wzard has it right: everyone who flies in our group has a great time, especially during FSOs. We are a tight-knit group, but we make an effort to make any new person feel welcome and at home, as soon as possible. We check our egos at the hangar door before  climbing into the cockpit, and there are no cliques in our group, aside from the normal element lead/ wingman coordination: good communication/ coordination between wingmen and between elements and flight leader is highly emphasized. Flying together in FSO is always a good mix of hilarity, discipline, white-knuckle "Oh, Sh%*t WTF is BC doing down there?", and camaraderie.

Come, see if you have what it takes to "fly blue". :airplane:

You scurvy lot always forget the perks... What about the free plastic parrot and eye patch and vf-17 doo rag. That will get em knocking on the commanders door. :aok
I have flown with many great squads in aces high. But I have to say that this one is the best I have have had the privilege to fly with. From command down they are top notch.  :salute
So come to the Training arena some evening and take a look see. You will normally find one of us in there. :airplane:

To be the best you have to fly with the best.

The pillow fighters that BigRat have hired for this year are smoking hot!

Come raid our liquor cabinet. It's well furnished.

We also have a well furnished medical cabinet. You know how it is. A GF in every port. Sometimes it itch and burn a little but nothing cream and antibiotic will not fix!  :devil

Hmmm.... Now all I need is some advice on how to get my cooler strapped down to the cockpit floor of a F4U-1A !!  The bottles rolling under the rudder pedals are a distraction....   :headscratch:

Great Squad !!  Great Fun !!  Come join us !!
