MW connection issue
« on: October 02, 2013, 08:48:04 PM »
I go to LW and log in fine. Go to MW and get host connection lost as soon as it pops up.

This same thing happened about 2 weeks back.

If the arena was the source of the problem, no one could get into it.

This sounds very much like some type of anti-xxx software is causing a connection issue.  Possibly the same terrain was loaded in the Mid War last time this happened?  Just a guess.

No idea... the hop just before the server is 100% packet loss just like last time

That is normal. The next to last hop will always show 100% packet loss as that particular router ignores the "ICMP ECHO" packet, which is always optional.

Are you running any type of anti-xxxx software?  Try renaming the "ahiiterr" folder and let the game download the terrain again.  If that fails, rename the "settings" folder and see if that fixes it.  If that fails, reset the "Maximum Texture Size" to a smaller value.

I'll try that. I have not changed anything on my computer. I even tried it from one of my other machines and same issue.

Will try renaming the AHiiterr..... thanks

OK renamed and went to MW. Started the download for a few seconds then went back to where you chose Online. Just like I was signing on. When I go to MW it asks if I want to resume download. Hmmm

OK that did not work. I noted that craterma is the terrain. I went to the folder and deleted that file. It downloaded but dropped " not receiving updates switched to TCP" then disconnect.

I then deleted the craterma file again and went to the terrain download page to get it there. When I click on the link there the address bar says "http://downloads1.hitechcreations.com/terrains/AHCRATERMA.EXE" but I get the 404 message " The webpage cannot be found ".

So I can't download it direct from the website either. Very strange.

Haa now craterma is up in LW... same issue. So now we know it is the terrain.

Did you try cranking down all the graphics to bare minimums?  Just as an exercise.

The terrains are downloaded from a completely different network than the arenas are running on.  It really sounds more and more like some type of anti-xxxx software is causing the problem.

Just tried downloading this terrain and IE 10 browser says website found but permission denied 403 error.

I'm logged in. Possible problem with website separate issue?

Yes I have found several with the same issue. I challenge anyone to try to download the terrain from the site too.

I've never had an issue with this terrain till this weekend. It is not blocked.

I was able to get in for a few and everything went to low graphics. Nothing has changed on my machine.

MW ok now that map is gone. LW still bad.

Again, did you try setting all the graphics to bare minimums in the game and see if that did the trick?  I just want to rule out resource issues.  I'lll look into the WEB link when I get into the office.  That is a separate issue.

Comcast sucks :). Someone up there had slowed my connection to 7.5 down and 1.5 up.

It is back to 65mb dn and 12mb up.

Thanks for your time Skuzzy <S>
