I am not a "pro", but I do work on a race rescue team.   I have been trained in fire and extrication tactics in a motorsports environment.  I don't however deal with the soft squishy parts on the inside of the race car.  I stay with the hard crunchy parts on the outside.

Here is me trying to convince the driver he didn't want to be on that side of the car while the other race cars where driving by http://www.motorsport.com/transam/photo/main-gallery/lou-gigliotti-out-of-the-3/  < 2002 D.C. Grand Prix

I don't know what the cold water challenge is, but it sound like I am fine not doing it :)

Frenchy has the fun job, he gets to fly. I'm just a lowly ground pounder paramedic.

<S> back...

I won't work bike events.  They seem to fly at least one person out each bike event.  I am surprised they don't have a bird on the ground staged and ready to go.

I work mostly smaller events for local clubs (SCCA, NASA, Porsche club, etc), but I have worked a few pro events.  Of course I say smaller, but SCCA gets about 700 competitors for their end of year championship.

Little late but we got it done yesterday. It's making the rounds through the Metroplex pretty quick down here.
