Fuel balancing..... Hows it work?
« on: August 21, 2014, 11:10:39 AM »
Not sure if this is a bug or a feature........

But I always thought that the auto fuel balancing feature always balances the fuel within the plane to keep CG within limits.

Turns out its catering for ordinance as well.

Recently I was surprised to see my RM tank in my P38 was showing nearly empty but the totaliser (red fuel bug) was close to 40%.
Turns out I had pickled one 1000lber and the right one was still onboard. (Was returning back after a long and boring GV patrol)

So it burned through my RM and RA tank, while leaving my RM untouched and very little out of the LA, to keep my CG centered?

But now if I had to drop my bomb, that would leave me horribly out of balance? :headscratch: :noid  :joystick:

I think the fuel balancing mechanism should balance fuel assuming a clean aircraft and let aircraft trim deal with asymmetry due to on-board ordinance? :huh
