Thanks guys, it is something a bit different to the usual brown and green paint jobs.
What was the logic behind painting armor grey overall? I'd think that'd make them stick out pretty badly
Probably did considering they changed it
German armour was factory painted panzer grey from the start of the war up to 1943, with the exception of vehicles destined for the Afrika Korps. This colour worked reasonably well as camouflage in Western Europe and the Balkans. However after Barbarossa German tank crews found the colour did stand out against the brown steppe terrain and often painted ad hoc brown camo on their tanks with either mud or paint. So in early 1943 the Wehrmacht ordered all new vehicles to be painted dark yellow, a light olive brown colour. Green or red brown paint was also made available to crews and could then be applied over the dark yellow for extra camo if necessary.
