I like their tank on fire effect after one has been hit.

Definitely!

It'd be cool to see them brew up in Aces, and not just the turret flip (which is, in and of itself, extremely cool too)

Wow.  That must have been in easy easy new player mode.  It didn't seem to have ANY challenge what-so-ever.

Noticed gunner still had to induce range.  On M-1 Tank and I also believe the T-90 the ballistics computer induces lead of target based on distance and speed based on tracking of target.
Most of today s tanks have fire control systems that take into consideration, barometric pressure, temperature, barrel ware and barrel droop. and wind speed.  It also has information placed in the computer for the lot of ammo based on test firing of that production ammo.  Basically if all information for the ammo lot, and up to date barometric pressure information is feed to the computer it just requires lazing the target and keeping the reticle centered on the target.  The computer automatically induces super elevation and lead.

Yeppers,  as long as you remember to 'dump the lead' from traversing to the the target.

I didn't use the plane's icon range for this shot.  I ranged my gun by blowing up the fuel tanks that I knew were close to the runway.  It's hard to see the plane/icon but it flies in to land from the right.  Roughly 1.6K, then I used Kentucky windage to calculate lead.

If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

How difficult do you think it is to shoot a modern tank gun? Even Richard Hammond managed to hit 3 out of 4 on the first shot in an M1 Abrams...

Shooting an HE round that explodes under a plane is not main gunning them. To "main gun" them, you need to hit the plane with the round itself.
