What a blast tonight was!
« on: November 24, 2014, 04:30:19 AM »
:salute to all those pilots that made tonight so fun!

Firstly there was a sweet exchange of angles with.. umm. No wait there was that T n B with..ummm.. no no wait the best part was the high E encounter with.. oh wait thats right not a single damn person!

Flew for an hour across both fronts trying to pick a fight and upping in sectors with dar and..nothing. not a single air con all night. Closest i got was when i flew to a bish large airfield and started getting 88 flack a few miles out. So kiled that and he ups a wirb... sad state of affairs.

Rant over...

Another 40 mins in the air and nothing... not a single enemy all night apart from that 88/wirb guy earlier.

The off peak hours can be quite cruel. I've spent many nights flying around with nothing in sight and the only other "player" I ever saw was someone in a manned gun. I've resorted to just asking on 200 if anyone wants to fight and if no one replies then I just log off.

We need more Aussie players!

Not really off peak - euro night as well. There were 220 players when I logged in. Numbers out of balance with Rooks (my chess piece) outnumbering the other countries and knight being the smallest. No big red bars anywhere. Some red bar near a port and CV - can't roll an F6F because ENY=12 is locked.

Took off in an over ENY'ed MossVI towards the biggest red bar I could find but they all died or fled before I got there. At least I carried 2 bombs in the bay so I bombed a Whirb and a Panzr. Landed to get the "attaboy" for killing two players that should have been in planes.

Maybe help rooks take a base? There seemed to be an attack forming on one. ENY limit lowered so I Rolled a Moss XVI. Seconds before the drop I remember I forgot to calibrate - hold Y for 3 seconds and immediately tossed my MOAB and 2 little ones on the town (yes, I calibrated 3 seconds before release, it is that difficult). I was 1/4 of the way home at 450 mph when those hit the ground... object destroyed messages spilled out of my text box - could it be a new record? YES! landed 8254 lbs of damage with a single XVI. The entire trip took about 10 minutes, 6 of which I was AFK. Who needs heavy bombers with drones?

Another CV action! ...no... CV is dead. Booo! I got into the 5" guns on the DD and puffed away at some red flying by while doing my nails on my left hand. 2 more hard earned kills.

Rooks were still swarming the town I bombed and did not take it. As expected.

Summary:
One hour playing, 200+ players online, not a single air combat.
WE NEED BIGGER MAPS WITH MORE BASES!

At least this night stands out for the worse. Two nights ago it was better.
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

:airplane: I must be playing a different game than you guys! Every time I come into the game and start running missions, lots of bad guys show up and fun is had by all, the bomber pilots in blowing up something and the fighter pilots defending the bombers. Maybe the guys who just like to "furball", should try joining some of my missions, as there is always lots of action around, and that has been the case for the past 4 years. Of course, I don't get to go into the game in the "off" hours, mainly I am in after 6PM Eastern time.
Maybe its more fun to "furball" with someone as they have only one object to concentrate on, whereas, in attacking bombers which are escorted, you have to watch and plan the attack on the bombers and dodge the escorts at the same time. Maybe, situational awareness is to complicated for some people, I don't know, but looks to me like attacking a large formation of bombers, which are escorted, is one of the biggest challenges which this game has to offer!
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

You should try out the off hours and see how it's like first hand. Only 40-60 players online and only about 10 of them are actually playing. The rest are all afk.

Technically, in a way, Aces High Peak Hours and Aces High Off Hours are two completely different games.

Social moaning does help to ease the pain. Ask any old lady how does she feel today and see.

HTC has already improved AH graphics this week. I upgraded from a 14" laptop with a hybrid graphics card to a proper 23" and desktop that can run AH with all the whistles and bells - this is like AH3 already arrived:)

That makes no sense! How will further thinning out players online help air combat?

Your conclusion should of been 'we need more maps with fewer bases'.

I personally think the maps need to be shifted for how many players are on.

So like if there are < 100 players only a % of the map is playable. As more people log on, the more bases % of the map will open up for flight. That way it condenses the players to a smaller area to fight in therefore allowing more opportunities to battle and find players to fight.

You know, it isn't particularly fun on the opposite side either.  Try being jumped by 5 enemy planes every single one of which is higher than you (like I was last night).  5 against 1 is not much fun and it's quite boring as the outcome is essentially predetermined.

Maybe some Rooks might consider changing to some other country?  In US prime time Rooks almost always have quite large numbers advantages, sometimes approaching 2 to 1, which is often more like 3 to 1 when two sides gang up on the one with low numbers.

That's the best part when they outnumber you! Fly something that says kill me like a 38 or mossie and watch them all make mistakes trying to get the 'easy' kill!
