Just take the 2x50cal with 37mm its very deadly when you are 200 out on there 6 almost half my kills alone are just the 2x50s in the p39Q plus it can take some sick battle damage.

(Image removed from quote.)

All those hits, yet the ailerons are still intact.   :O

Most of my P-39s have a habit of losing the v-stab in short order.  :cry
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,365206.150.html showing the ownage the p39 can deal. Also look at the 109k4 struggle to win against the mighty p39 with the energy gap (p39 209mph vs 408mph 109k4) at the start of the fight  :devil. <S> Jazzi was awesome fight

jupp like 1/5th of a Yak-3

My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

Much like while flying the Mosquito as a fighter, enemies often do real stupid stuff when they see you.

Sometimes the yak3 damage resistance is just crazy:

The P-39 is not a bad plane.  It handles great at speed; it turns decently at low speed; it climbs well at lower alts; it's reasonably fast on the deck; it's small and hard to hit.

It's a very easy plane to shoot down.

Anyone who has any interest in the P-39 should go online and track down a copy of "Nanette: Her Pilot's Love Story" by Edwards Park.  Probably my favorite WW2 book, and the closest thing to required reading that we have in the 80th.
